DOWNLOAD EBOOKRockbolting: Principles and Applications brings current theoretical and practical developments in the most widely used support device for underground rock excavations. Today, one cannot find any rock excavation project that does not use rockbolts for rock support. The worldwide annual assumption of rockbolts is in the billions, with pieces applied to mines, tunnels and other types of geotechnical projects for rock and soil reinforcement. The text is based on over 25 years of experience of the author both as academic and practitioner. The book introduces the principles and background concepts of rock support, and then offers a comprehensive overview of the mechanics of rockbolting, as well as current rock bolt types such as mechanical, grouted, self-drilling, grouted cables, frictional and yield rockbolts. Installation and performance assessment are covered next including load-displacement curves and energy-absorption capacities. Two chapters on design and quality control, respectively, cover failure mechanics, the selection process and the connections with other supporting devices. On quality control, the author explains the usual tests and displacement measurements. The final chapter brings current case studies that combine the concepts presented in the whole book. The book is a professional reference for engineers in the mining and geotechnical industries and can be used as research material for academics in rock mechanics and stability studies. - Offers theoretical knowledge on rock bolts and rockbolting - Covers the standard and most recent types of rockbolts - Includes information on rockbolting in high stress rock - Presents case studies that introduce practical applications in several conditions

DOWNLOAD EBOOKEvery step in the business bankruptcy litigation process is covered in Aspen Publishers' Bankruptcy Litigation Manual, from the drafting of the first pleadings through the appellate process. In fact, by making the Bankruptcy Litigation Manual a part of your working library, you not only get detailed coverage of virtually all the topics and issues you must consider in any bankruptcy case, you also get field-tested answers to questions you confront every day, such as: How to stay continuing litigation against a corporate debtor's non-debtor officers? What are the limits on suing a bankruptcy trustee? Is the Deprizio Doctrine still alive? Does an individual debtor have an absolute right to convert a case from Chapter 7 to Chapter 13? What prohibitions exist on cross-collateralization in financing disputes? Are option contracts "executory" for bankruptcy purposes? When, and under what circumstances, may a bankruptcy court enjoin an administrative proceeding against a Chapter 11 debtor? What are the current standards for administrative priority claims? When must a creditor assert its setoff rights? When can a remand order issued by a district court be reviewed by a court of appeals? What are the limits on challenging pre-bankruptcy real property mortgage foreclosures as fraudulent transfers? Can an unsecured lender recover contract-based legal fees incurred in post- bankruptcy litigation on issues of bankruptcy law? Is there a uniform federal limitation on perfecting security interests that primes a longer applicable state law period, thus subjecting lenders to a preference attack? Do prior bankruptcy court orders bar a plaintiff's later state court suit and warrant removal of the action in federal court? Michael L. Cook, a partner at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in New York and former long-time Adjunct Professor at New York University School of Law, has gathered together some of the country's top bankruptcy litigators to contribute to Bankruptcy Litigation Manual.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe growing global demand for food, feed and bio-based renewable material is changing the conditions for agricultural production worldwide. At the same time, revolutionary achievements in the field of biosciences are contributing to a transition whereby bio-based alternatives for energy and materials are becoming more competitive. Creating Sustainable Bioeconomies explores the prospects for biosciences and how its innovation has the potential to help countries in the North (Europe) and the South (Africa) to move towards resource efficient agriculture and sustainable bioeconomies. Throughout the book, the situations of Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa will be compared and contrasted, and opportunities for mutual learning and collaboration are explored. The chapters have been written by high profile authors and deal with a wide range of issues affecting the development of bioeconomies on both continents. This book compares and contrasts the situations of these two regions as they endeavour to develop knowledge based bioeconomies. This volume is suitable for those who are interested in ecological economics, development economics and environmental economics. It also provides action plans assisting policy-makers in both areas to support the transition to knowledge based and sustainable bioeconomies.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book aims to facilitate and improve development work related to all documents and information required by functional safety standards. Proof of Compliance (PoC) is important for the assessor and certification bodies when called up to confirm that the manufacturer has developed a software system according to the required safety standards. While PoC documents add functionality to the product neither for the developer nor for the customer, they do add confidence and trust to the product and ease certification, and as such are important for the product’s value. In spite of this added value, the documentation needed for PoC is often developed late in the project and in a haphazard manner. This book aims at developers, assessors, certification bodies, and purchasers of safety instrumented systems and informs the reader about the most important PoC documents. A typical PoC documentation encompasses 50 to 200 documents, several of which are named in the safety standards (e.g., 82 documents in IEC 61508:2010 series, 101 documents in EN 5012X series and 106 work products in ISO 26262:2018 series). These documents also include further references, typically one to twenty of them, and the total number of pages developed by the manufacturer varies between 2000 and 10000 pages. The book provides guidance and examples what to include in the relevant plans and documents.
