Industrial Fire Control Concepts is a facility fire protection course in book format. For more than sixty years, between 1946 and 2007, Industrial Risk Insurers offered an intensive week-long industrial fire protection course in their Hartford (CT) Loss Prevention Training Center and at other facilities worldwide. Although this course concentrated on fundamental fire control concepts, participants often felt like they were drinking from a fire hose. A common refrain from participants was, "Why isn't all this information available in a book someplace?" In 1988 the first edition of Industrial Fire Control Concepts attempted to fill this need.
