""Napoleon Bonaparte"" offers a comprehensive exploration of one of history's most enigmatic figures, delving into the life, achievements, and legacy of the French emperor. This meticulously researched biography focuses on Napoleon's rise to power, military campaigns, and impact on European politics and society. The book challenges readers to consider whether Napoleon was truly a military genius or simply a product of his time, examining the complex interplay between individual agency and historical circumstances. The biography provides essential background on the French Revolution and the political turmoil of late 18th-century Europe, explaining the factors that contributed to Napoleon's ascent. It chronicles his journey from a relatively unknown Corsican officer to the ruler of France, exploring his major military campaigns and ultimate downfall. The book draws on a wide range of primary sources, including Napoleon's personal correspondence and contemporary accounts, to present a nuanced portrait of a man who was both a military innovator and an authoritarian ruler. What sets this biography apart is its balanced approach, avoiding both hagiography and vilification. It offers insights into Napoleon's leadership style, diplomatic tactics, and strategic thinking, making it valuable for students of European history, military enthusiasts, and those interested in understanding the forces that shaped modern Europe. By presenting a fact-based account of Napoleon's life and impact, the book challenges readers to move beyond myths and engage with the complex reality of this influential historical figure.

Every adult paid a living wage. No strings attached. Universal basic income is a very old idea that is fast becoming the radical idea of the twenty-first century. It could eradicate poverty and avoid a much-predicted dystopian future of automation and high unemployment – but it could also have an unexpected effect: an explosion of mass creativity. Phil Teer draws insights from the creative and entrepreneurial effects of basic income experiments and weaves them into stories of how the Romantic poets invented consumerism; artists regenerated cities like New York, Glasgow and Berlin; and creative geniuses like David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Kurt Vonnegut, Haruki Murakami and many others liberated their creative spirits and transformed their lives. The Coming Age of Imagination is a creative manifesto for universal basic income. When we no longer have to worry about money, we have the opportunity to be creative on a mass scale. Simply put, basic income changes everything.

When your world of traditional assumptions is shaken where do you turn for inner peace and personal comfort? Considering Pascals wager, if there is no god and we disbelieve we have lost nothing, but if there is a god and we disbelieve we may have lost everything. But, what if there is no free will and we all must believe whatever we are given? That is the primary question that pushed this author into investigating what the world religions and philosophies taught about the existential puzzle called life. When my traditional faith failed to provide any comfort after untimely death of my wife I began searching for some belief I could live with, and this is what I was given. Many thinking people have rejected the mythical god of the Bible and the Quran but they have not found a suitable substitute. Since there is no proof for or against the existence of God, everyone must be agnostic or atheist if they will admit it. Perhaps it is time to replace the anthropomorphic god with one that really works. Not the god of the Bible or the Quran, but the prime force in the universe: Generator, Operator, Destroyer...G.O.D. The expanded and updated essays in the second edition of this book develop such a new theology.

The purpose of this dissertation is to examine the organisational problems, and in particular the leadership problems, of self-help groups in Japan for parents whose children have intractable diseases. Since 1993, I have been involved with these parent groups, and have conducted three sorts of qualitative interview: thirteen informal conversational interviews, four focus group interviews, and fourteen guided interviews, involving the members of twenty-one parent groups. Part of the research was carried out as participatory action research in which a research team was formed and authorised by the parent groups. My findings have shown that the groups' most serious problems lay not outside their groups but within, with the shortage of suitable leaders who volunteered in the activities. Three different sorts of account were given concerning the leadership shortage. They included justification, accusation and exposure: the participants claimed that taking care of ill children caused the leadership shortage; selfish members created it; or the determination of older leaders to remain at the helm prevented new members from becoming leaders. Cognitive maps have been drawn of these situations. I have explained the theories behind the free-rider and social loafing problems, and the leadership traps confronting the parent groups, and have applied attribution theory to the results. I have discussed the practicality of consultation for group leaders, and argued that organisational socialisation should be activated in the parent groups while propounding the island-within-a-lake model of parent groups. Methodologically, I have discussed social research within Japanese culture and the ethical issues pertain to participatory action research.

Here is a collection of journaled essays leading to the inevitable belief in theological fatalism, aka Theofatalism. They include arguments from theology, psychology, politics, geology, technology, sociology, economics, history, cosmology and more. With this belief system, you can feel good inside no matter what happens outside. It may take several readings to get it, but anything worthwhile requires effort. The work relies upon religious scriptures and the analytical psychology of Swiss psychiatrist Carl G. Jung (1875-1961). The Chartres Labyrinth is used as the symbol for the walk of life that each of us is given. We leave the source at birth and meander around on earth through stages of growth and decline to return to the source when our life work is done. You don't have to search for your purpose in life, because you cannot avoid it. Essays in Part I discuss contemporary issues of life, and Part II focuses on the Jungian personality factors in aging. The scriptural evidence points to the will of God in every aspect of every life of every species on earth, i.e., immaculate immanence. This is not the manmade god in holy books, but the prime mover in the universe - generator, operator, destroyer - GOD. God above Gods. Don't believe in God? Never fear; God makes atheists and agnostics, too. That is the message of this book. The Psalm says, "You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!" (Psalm 139:16, NLT). Nothing from atoms to galaxies can happen outside the will of God. Ergo Theofatalism.
