Learn to communicate with your dog—using their language “Good reading for dog lovers and an immensely useful manual for dog owners.”—The Washington Post An Applied Animal Behaviorist and dog trainer with more than twenty years’ experience, Dr. Patricia McConnell reveals a revolutionary new perspective on our relationship with dogs—sharing insights on how “man’s best friend” might interpret our behavior, as well as essential advice on how to interact with our four-legged friends in ways that bring out the best in them. After all, humans and dogs are two entirely different species, each shaped by its individual evolutionary heritage. Quite simply, humans are primates and dogs are canids (as are wolves, coyotes, and foxes). Since we each speak a different native tongue, a lot gets lost in the translation. This marvelous guide demonstrates how even the slightest changes in our voices and in the ways we stand can help dogs understand what we want. Inside you will discover: • How you can get your dog to come when called by acting less like a primate and more like a dog • Why the advice to “get dominance” over your dog can cause problems • Why “rough and tumble primate play” can lead to trouble—and how to play with your dog in ways that are fun and keep him out of mischief • How dogs and humans share personality types—and why most dogs want to live with benevolent leaders rather than “alpha wanna-bes!” Fascinating, insightful, and compelling, The Other End of the Leash is a book that strives to help you connect with your dog in a completely new way—so as to enrich that most rewarding of relationships.

A decade ago, former military counterintelligence officer Terry Henry joined his precocious young daughter, Kyria, on a trip to a nursing home in order to allow its residents to play with their family dog, a golden retriever named riley. Terry was astounded by the transformations that unfolded before his eyes. Soon after, Terry and Kyria started their service dog organization, paws4people, with the goal of pairing dogs with human beings in need of healing, including traumatized and wounded war veterans and children living with physical, emotional, and intellectual disabilities. In A Dog's Gift, award-winning journalist and author Bob Drury movingly captures the story of a year in the life of paws4people and the broken bodies and souls the organization mends. The book follows the journey of pups bred by the organization from their loving, if rigorous, early training to an emotional event that terry and Kyria have christened "the bump," where each individual service dog chooses its new owner through an almost mystical connection that ignites the healing process. incorporating vivid storytelling, insights into canine wisdom, history, science, and moving tales of personal transformation, A Dog's Gift is a story of miracles bound to be embraced by not only the 60 million Americans who own dogs, but by anyone with a full heart and a loving soul.

This is a fact based captivating narrative about the life of a Mossad operative whose destiny has been decided for him through extraordinary circumstances. His world of subterfuge and deceit kept him from experiencing love, and his motive for living was revenge. David Parker searched for adventure in life, but instead he discovered that profound hatred ruled, and it became a threat to his very existence. As a young Christian from Seattle, he knew nothing about the Jews and Israel's fight for survival, but after he converted to Judaism he found himself battling an evil entity so malevolent and dedicated to the destruction of the young Jewish state, that he threw himself into his work in an endeavor to annihilate the enemy first. His mission as an assassin for the illustrious Mossad became his obsession and in the end he became a shell of his former self. A global consensus was that Radical Islam and their methods of terror had to be defeated for a free world to exist. This young man's dedication to that precise cause destroyed whatever sense of decency he had, and what could have been a promising life became a life of torment and regret.

I wrote this book also for a number of reasons. There are people and organizations that want to take our faith and beliefs away from us. In many ways, we have already lost a lot of ground and some of our ways of practicing our faith. Our forefathers came to this country for freedom of faith. They were tired of being told how they had to worship God or that they couldn't do this or that. Our country was founded on the idea of freedom of religion. We have the right to worship where and when we feel like worshiping God. By doing this, I am not telling anyone else what they can do or how to worship. I am just practicing my faith. Others are free to not worship and stay home on Sundays and do nothing if this is what makes them happy. But they don't need to tell me where I can hang a picture of Jesus, put up a cross or sign, or where I can pray to my savior. I have showed in this book where we have lost some of our freedom because we did nothing. Those with money have won out in many ways. We may not be rich in money, but we all have a voice and legs to stand on. We can't convince anyone that we are right by saying, "Okay, we won't defend what we believe." This we have done too often. The prophets were perhaps the first to give witness to us and then Jesus and then the apostles and the church after that. All of creation, if we look at what God has created and is still creating, should all be witnesses. The big bang theory just doesn't work. Everything had to begin with something. Where did this something come from if not from an all-knowing supreme being. This I all tried to bring out in my book, as well as the time when God spoke for himself when the sky opened and a voice from the clouds said, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him." In this book, I have witnessed again and also some of my friends have given their witness in hope of convincing others how important our faith is and how we all need to respond to attacks on our faith. If you want to share your faith in Jesus and how you have seen God work in your life, I would like to tell you to maybe write your own book. If you say that it isn't possible for you to write, I would like you to send me the story of God's work in your life. When I get enough, I may have another book to write. If God wants you to write, he will help you. He helped me. A few years ago, a friend read my first book and shared her story with me. I told her that she should write her own book, and she did; in fact, she has written several. Her name is Vicki Leigh. I shared a part of her story in this book. Will you stand up or speak for your faith?
