A five-time Moth GrandSLAM winner and bestselling novelist shows how to tell a great story — and why doing so matters. Whether we realize it or not, we are always telling stories. On a first date or job interview, at a sales presentation or therapy appointment, with family or friends, we are constantly narrating events and interpreting emotions and actions. In this compelling book, storyteller extraordinaire Matthew Dicks presents wonderfully straightforward and engaging tips and techniques for constructing, telling, and polishing stories that will hold the attention of your audience (no matter how big or small). He shows that anyone can learn to be an appealing storyteller, that everyone has something “storyworthy” to express, and, perhaps most important, that the act of creating and telling a tale is a powerful way of understanding and enhancing your own life.

PLEASE EMAIL: [email protected] for more info. The art of storytelling began long before mankind developed writing tools. It is believed that soon after the skill of language evolved people started telling stories to educate, to entertain and as a means to express their feelings, beliefs and heroism. Our ancestors probably gathered around the evening fires to be captivated, enchanted and enlightened by the ancient storytellers. Families and communities were strengthened and maintained through stories that connected their present, past and future. The long tradition of storytelling is evident in the earliest cultures, such as the Australian Aborigines. Telling stories was also a nurturing act for both the listener and the teller. Those who excelled at storytelling became our entertainers, cultural advisors, educators and historians. The importance of the storyteller in human history cannot be overstated. Storytelling was, and remains, one of the most respected skills a person can master. The first evidence of storytelling can be found in cave paintings, which recorded both history and mythology in their storylines. Over time, such respect was given to the storytellers that they became honoured members of Royal Courts, Sages and Scribes. Storytelling can preserve a culture, instil moral values and it can be therapeutic. The art and skill of storytelling has come a long way over human history but three things remain constant and crucial: The plot The characters & The narrativeIn this first ever step-by-step guide to teach your child the art of storytelling perhaps we may just be nurturing the next Steven Spielberg, Richard Branson or Plato! In every sphere of human existence, be it entertainment, commerce or philosophy, it all begins with the story...

An astonishing novel about redemption and forgiveness from the “amazingly talented writer” (HuffPost) and #1 New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult. Some stories live forever... Sage Singer is a baker. She works through the night, preparing the day’s breads and pastries, trying to escape a reality of loneliness, bad memories, and the shadow of her mother’s death. When Josef Weber, an elderly man in Sage’s grief support group, begins stopping by the bakery, they strike up an unlikely friendship. Despite their differences, they see in each other the hidden scars that others can’t. Everything changes on the day that Josef confesses a long-buried and shameful secret and asks Sage for an extraordinary favor. If she says yes, she faces not only moral repercussions, but potentially legal ones as well. With the integrity of the closest friend she’s ever had clouded, Sage begins to question the assumptions and expectations she’s made about her life and her family. In this searingly honest novel, Jodi Picoult gracefully explores the lengths to which we will go in order to keep the past from dictating the future.
