Growing Grace is a glimpse into adoption from the biological mother's perspective. This is the story of a difficult promise, a purposeful quest, and the heartfelt connection that develops along the way.
I wrote Growing Up In Grace to encourage you through some of life's highs and lows, help you keep your eyes on God, and live out the plans He has for you. In Growing Up In Grace, my friends and I share our experiences through the lenses of faith, revealing how there is more to life than simply getting by. We have a God who knows us, loves us, and cares for us. He sent His son to die for us. That means He can cleanse us from our sin so we can live an abundantly blessed life-even through the challenges we face as teenagers. Growing up is a challenge, but when we live in the grace God calls us into, we can live differently. His grace gives us peace in hard times, joy every day, and the ability to spark change all around us. I have walked through family troubles, a season of recklessness, body shame, and more. Chelsea and Reagan walk us through some of their own struggles like jealousy and learning how to trust God's timing. Running to the Lord with these things is so freeing, even if we're still battling them. God gives us strength to continue fighting. He has many promises for you that you can start believing right now. Let's grow in His grace, together.
The biblical teaching in Grow in Grace will appeal to Christians at all stages, while its straightforward explanation of the patterns of God's work in his people makes it ideal for those who are just beginning.

Many who grew up in conservative Christian homes look back with appreciation on their childhood. But others battle with a way of life they now judge to be legalistic, rigid and filled more with guilt than with grace. Here you will find the straight, honest talk of many who were reared in fundamentalist homes. The man who grew up thinking his father never had a feeling. The intellectual who decided he didn't have to untie all the knots. The devout artist who would rather paint a nude than a 900-foot Jesus. Men and women who have struggled with broken families, sexual abuse, homosexuality, the effects of war. Some have left the church altogether; others hold a robust, if changed, faith. All have stories that are by turns charged comic and reassuring. Stefan Ulstein's probing interviews will help you learn how your friends, your children - and maybe those you hope to evangelize - perceive the complicated way of life often called fundamentalism.
1910. Pownal, Vermont. At 12, Grace and her best friend Arthur must leave school and go to work as a “doffers” on their mothers’ looms in the mill. Grace’s mother is the best worker, fast and powerful, and Grace desperately wants to help her. But she’s left handed and doffing is a right-handed job. Grace’s every mistake costs her mother, and the family. She only feels capable on Sundays, when she and Arthur receive special lessons from their teacher. Together they write a secret letter to the Child Labor Board about underage children working in Pownal. A few weeks later a man with a camera shows up. It is the famous reformer Lewis Hine, undercover, collecting evidence for the Child Labor Board. Grace’s brief acquaintance with Hine and the photos he takes of her are a gift that changes her sense of herself, her future, and her family’s future.
True growth in grace is all about keeping our eyes off ourselves and on Jesus, believing with utter certainty that He alone is able to complete the work He has begun in us.
This practical guide to growing in grace is rooted in the Bible's teaching on 'grace, ' especially as it is revealed in the Lord Jesus Christ. By examining his role as our prophet, priest, and king we will see not only the ways in which he displayed God's grace during his earthly ministry, but also how he governs and guides us as we grow in grace today.
