They consist principally of brick-red shales locally called red keel but include some thin layers of interbedded sandstones. A sec. 29, North Enid Town ship, penetrated Over feet of red shale, and two wells drilled at El Reno, Canadian County, Okla., 60 miles south of Enid, were in the Red Beds for and feet, respectively.
