Vladimir Naumovich Gribov was one of the most outstanding theoretical physicists, a key figure in the development of modern elementary particle physics. His insights into the physics of quantum anomalies and the origin of classical solutions (instantons), the notion of parton systems and their evolution in soft and hard hadron interactions, the first theory of neutrino oscillations and conceptual problems of quantization of non-Abelian fields uncovered by him, have left a lasting impact on the theoretical physics of the 21st century. Gribov-80 the fourth in a series of memorial workshops for V N Gribov was organized on the occasion of his 80th birthday in May 2010, at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics. The workshop paid tribute to Gribov's great achievements and brought close colleagues, younger researchers and leading experts together to display the new angles of the Gribov heritage at the new energy frontier opened up by the Large Hadron Collider. The book is a collection of the presentations made at the workshop.

Vladimir Naumovich Gribov is one of the creators of modern theoretical physics. The concepts and methods that Gribov has developed in the second half of the 20th century became cornerstones of the physics of high energy hadron interactions (relativistic theory of complex angular momenta, a notion of the vacuum pole — Pomeron, effective reggeon field theory), condensed matter physics (critical phenomena), neutrino oscillations, and nuclear physics. His unmatched insights into the nature of the quantum field theory helped to elucidate, in particular, the origin of classical solutions (instantons), quantum anomalies, specific problems in quantization of non-Abelian fields (Gribov anomalies, Gribov horizon), and the role of light quarks in the color confinement phenomenon. The Memorial Workshop devoted to Gribov's 90th birthday was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020; however, this did not deter the collection of many new studies in challenging theoretical physics problems across a broad variety of topics, and shared memories about their colleague, great teacher and friend. The contributions of this memorial volume affirms the everlasting impact of Gribov's scientific heritage upon the physics of the 21st century.

Vladimir Naumovich Gribov was one of the most outstanding theorists, a key figure in the creation of the modern elementary particle physics. His many discoveries are famous and well accepted by the physics community (Gribov-Regge theory of high energy hadron interactions, Gribov vacuum pole OCo Pomeron, Reggeon field theory, parton evolution equations, neutrino oscillations, Gribov copies in non-Abelian gauge field theories, etc.); Some of his ideas look unacceptable and strange at the first glance. Even at the second glance. Nowadays, under the weight of new theoretical developments and experimental results, his ideas are receiving the recognition they deserve. The Gribov Memorial Workshop, organized on his 75th birthday in Budapest, Hungary in 2005, clearly demonstrated the wealth and fertilization force of his ideas. Close colleagues, younger followers, world experts of the quark-hadron world have gathered together to display new angles of the Gribov heritage. And to remember the personality of a great man. This book collects the talks presented at, and contributed to, the Gribov-75 Memorial Workshop. Contents: QCD and Hadrons at High Energies: Hidden QCD Scales and Diquark Correlations (A Vainshtein); Non-Perturbative YangOCoMills from Supersymmetry and Strings, or, in the Jungles of Strong Coupling (M Shifman); Multiple Interactions and Saturation in High Energy Collisions (G Gustafson); From Quantum Black Holes to Relativistic Heavy Ions (D Kharzeev); Progress in Lattice Studies, Hadron Spectrum and Color Confinement: Exact Chiral Symmetry in Lattice QCD (F Niedermayer); The Effective Bosonic String Action in Quantum Chromodynamics (J Kuti); General Field Theory, Gravity and Macro-World: Supermagnets and Sigma Models (A M Polyakov); PhotonOCoNeutrino Interaction or Optical Activity of Intergalactic Space (V Novikov); Quantized Black Holes, Their Spectrum and Radiation (I B Khriplovich); Many Faces of Dimensional Reduction (A T Filippov); and other papers. Readership: Physicists, researchers, and graduate students in particle and high energy physics."

This little book concentrates on the foundations of modern physics (its OC ABC''sOCO) and its most fundamental constants: c OCo the velocity of light and ? OCo the quantum of action. First of all, the book is addressed to professional physicists, but in order to achieve maximal concentration and clarity it uses the simplest (high school) mathematics. As a result many pages of the book will be useful to college students and may appeal to a more general audience."

The book discusses hidden symmetries in the Anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory (AdS/CFT) duality. This duality is a modern concept that asserts an exact duality between conformally invariant quantum field theories and string theories in higher dimensional Anti-de Sitter spaces, and in this way provides a completely new tool for the study of strongly coupled quantum field theories. In this setting, the book focuses on the Wilson loop, an important observable in four-dimensional maximally supersymmetric gauge theory. The dual string description using minimal surfaces enables a systematic study of the hidden symmetries of the loop. The book presents major findings, including the discovery of a master symmetry for strings in general symmetric spaces, its relation to the Yangian symmetry algebra and its action on the minimal surfaces appearing in the dual string description of the Wilson loop. Moreover, it clarifies why certain symmetries are not present on the gauge theory side for purely bosonic Wilson loops and, lastly, how the supersymmetrization of the minimal surface problem for type IIB superstrings can be undertaken. As such, it substantially increases our understanding and use of infinite dimensional symmetries occurring in the AdS/CFT correspondence.

This dissertation focuses on the calculation of transport coefficients in the matter created in a relativistic heavy-ion collision after chemical freeze-out. This matter can be well approximated using a pion gas out of equilibrium. We describe the theoretical framework needed to obtain the shear and bulk viscosities, the thermal and electrical conductivities and the flavor diffusion coefficients of a meson gas at low temperatures. To describe the interactions of the degrees of freedom, we use effective field theories with chiral and heavy quark symmetries. We subsequently introduce the unitarization methods in order to obtain a scattering amplitude that satisfies the unitarity condition exactly, then go on to calculate the transport properties of the low-temperature phase of quantum chromodynamics - the hadronic medium - which can be used in hydrodynamic simulations of a relativistic heavy-ion collision and its subsequent evolution. We show that the shear viscosity over entropy density exhibits a minimum in a phase transition by studying this coefficient in atomic Argon (around the liquid-gas phase transition) and in the linear sigma model in the limit of a large number of scalar fields (which presents a chiral phase transition). Finally, we provide an experimental method for estimating the bulk viscosity in relativistic heavy-ion collisions by performing correlations of the fluctuating components of the stress-energy tensor.
