DOWNLOAD EBOOKI am very pleased that my book The Geomagnetic Field and Life is being published in English in the United States. Thanks to the initiative of Plenum Press, a publishing hause that is widely known in all countries, I have a great new opportunity to make direct contact with friends throughout the world. My book on the geomagnetic field can be regarded as an abstraction, whose purpose is to provide a better picture and understanding of the world araund us, its main driving forces, and factors, to help us to know ourselves, and to proceed further. The essence of the abstraction is that in treating the problern I have deliberately ignored the diverse effects of various extemal factors on living organisms and have confined myself to an analysis of the effect of the GMF. This approach allows me to go one step further-to draw various conclusions and propose theories that rnight bring us closer to a proper understanding of the true nature of the phenomena. Philosophers have long been aware that by such abstract thinking we can deterrnine the nature of phenomena more reliably, completely, and comprehensively, penetrate to the very core of the observed effects, and perceive the depth of their interrelations.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis volume provides comprehensive and authoritative coverage of all the main areas linked to geomagnetic field observation, from instrumentation to methodology, on ground or near-Earth. Efforts are also focused on a 21st century e-Science approach to open access to all geomagnetic data, but also to the data preservation, data discovery, data rescue, and capacity building. Finally, modeling magnetic fields with different internal origins, with their variation in space and time, is an attempt to draw together into one place the traditional work in producing models as IGRF or describing the magnetic anomalies.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKAnnals of the International Geophysical Year, Part IV: Geomagnetism covers the principles and methods of observation of geomagnetism. This book is organized into four parts encompassing 17 chapters that also consider the concept of seismology and cosmic radiation. The first two parts focus on geomagnetism, its general principles, technique of scaling, method of measurement, and equipment for recording. These parts also provide results of geomagnetic activity obtained the Earth-current installation at the U.S.S.R. stations. The third part presents the monthly bulletins containing the reduced data on seismological activity during the International Geophysical Year. This part also deals with the use of seismological codes for data transmission from seismograms. The fourth part describes the instrumentation for measuring cosmic-ray intensity changes and the design specifications for a meson intensity recorder. This book is directed toward to geophysicists.
