From Slumber to Awakening argues that when investigating the cultural and historical predicament of segments of any society a close examination of the literal expression of the people is necessary to understand their human condition better. To accomplish this, the individual psyches of authors and poets must be delved into, and in this case was accessed through personal interviews. This study approaches the unique social position of the Arab Israelis through an exploration of culture and history. The examination of the literature itself begins with Israeli literature from the broad perspectives of both the prose and poetry forms and then moving into the literature and literati themselves one by one exploring the lives of the writers while superimposing their human experiences with the expressions and stories of their creative works. This examination, along with the interviews, defines the Arab Israeli minority as a group while also comparing them to Jewish Israeli writers who are close to the Arab Israeli situation.uation.uation.uation.

How much of your waking time are you fully awake? On the other hand, how often do you stumble through the day on autopilot, half-asleep and out of contact with yourself, instead of feeling connected and alive? In this astounding book, Steve Taylor suggests that our normal consciousness is really a kind of "sleep" from which we sometimes "wake up" into a more intense and complete reality. He provides what is perhaps the first-ever clear explanation of higher states of consciousness, or "awakening experiences." This work delves into: • the methods we human beings have used throughout history to induce awakening experiences, including meditation, sex, sports, psychedelic drugs, and sleep deprivation • how higher states of consciousness were normal and natural to some of the world’s peoples (and still are, in some cases) • and how we can make "wakefulness" our normal state again. By fully explaining awakening experiences, the author makes them much more accessible, which may lead to a revolution in our psychological development as human beings!

What does it mean to be enlightened or spiritually awakened? In The Leap, Steve Taylor shows that this state is much more common than is generally believed. He shows that ordinary people — from all walks of life — can and do regularly “wake up” to a more intense reality, even if they know nothing about spiritual practices and paths. Wakefulness is a more expansive and harmonious state of being that can be cultivated or that can arise accidentally. It may also be a process we are undergoing collectively. Drawing on his years of research as a psychologist and on his own experiences, Taylor provides what is perhaps the clearest psychological study of the state of wakefulness ever published. Above all, he reminds us that it is our most natural state — accessible to us all, anytime, anyplace.

The daily parables, sometimes cryptic and often witty, are not meant so much to instruct as to awaken the understanding deep within the human heart.

We are as ghosts, dwelling in this earthly realm in a lowly state of consciousness. We endure this nightmare of illusory slumber, yet we do no fully realize that we are dreaming. Just as ghosts are often unaware of their demise and stay in a dimension where they do not belong, we too seem content to stay within the realm of nightmares and horror, unable to find our way out. We have been born into a world that isn't real. We've been fed lies through religion's betrayal. We were never meant to be here, but there is a way to find our path back home. Within these pages is the urgency of Spiritual Remembrance. It is told through the lens of a darkened perception, so that many will embrace its comfort; for pain and suffering are so familiar to us. Through the darkness is the Light of our true Spiritual identity, long forgotten - yet awaiting our resurrection back to Unity.
