Written by the son of Warden Jesse Buchanan, this is the story of the three men scheduled to die for the murder of Marion Miley and how Warden Buchanan devised an unorthodox course of action that changed his life and the course of capital punishment in America.
This book presents software visualization at a level suitable for a senior level undergraduate or graduate course, or for the interested technical professional. The approach is to give a survey of the field, and then present a specific research framework designed to reduce the effort required to write visualization tools. A wide range of simple program control flow and data structure visualizations are then presented as examples of how to obtain information about program behavior, and how to present it graphically. Source code fragments and screen images illustrate each example.

Acclaimed by Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly A dystopian government orders Agent Eve Parker to arrest her fiancé when he becomes a revolutionary known as Seven. When Eve learns more about the President's plan to broaden citizen surveillance, she begins to question if she's on the right side. Meanwhile, a foreign enemy threatens to take advantage of an increasingly divided nation. “Raises interesting questions about the influence of propaganda on the construction of the self, the idea of true tabula rasa and the power of memory … The central love story propels the narrative energetically.” -- Publishers Weekly "A novel about a scheming president offers an excellent read for those who love thrillers or 21st-century history." -- Kirkus Reviews Divided We Fall is a Library Journal SELF-e selection, and Amazon and Publishers Weekly honored the original manuscript as a quarter-finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards. The second novel by Adam Bender mixes action and romance into an exciting science fiction adventure that exposes a current political issue. It carries on the tradition of dystopian classics 1984 by George Orwell and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, as well as more recent blockbuster novels like The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. “There are few novels I can read in one sitting, but Adam Bender’s Divided We Fall was one of them. It is fast-paced, intriguing, and had me wondering what was coming just around the corner. It had me not only wanting, but needing more.” -- Readers' Favorite Witness the beginning of Seven's revolution in We, The Watched by Adam Bender.

Welcome to Middleware'98 and to one of England's most beautiful regions. In recent years the distributed systems community has witnessed a growth in the number of conferences, leading to difficulties in tracking the literature and a consequent loss of awareness of work done by others in this important field. The aim of Middleware'98 is to synthesise many of the smaller workshops and conferences in this area, bringing together research communities which were becoming fragmented. The conference has been designed to maximise the experience for attendees. This is reflected in the choice of a resort venue (rather than a big city) to ensure a strong focus on interaction with other distributed systems researchers. The programme format incorporates a question-and-answer panel in each session, enabling significant issues to be discussed in the context of related papers and presentations. The invited speakers and tutorials are intended to not only inform the attendees, but also to stimulate discussion and debate.
Katherine Stone's magical touch makes A Midnight Clear a story for all seasons.”—Book Page Thunder sounded anew, closer now, an ominous rumbling, a ferocious growl. Both of them greeted the sound with gentle smiles. Then Jace spoke without smiling, but with such gentleness still, as lightning illuminated the night gray sky. “I think, Julia, that you are absolutely fearless.” “No, Jace. I’m not. On paper maybe I might seem that way. On plans conjured months in advance and an ocean away. But now that I’m here . . .” “I would be very happy to prove my point. By accompanying you to Canterfields.” “Really?” “Of course.” “I . . . yes. Thank you. That makes me feel safe.” Oh, Julia Anne Hayley, he thought, you are not safe with me. For him, love was a nightmare . . . Haunted by memories of a Christmas Eve inferno, trauma surgeon Jace Colton guards his solitude as fiercely and as passionately as he tends to the desperately injured who need his care. For her, love is an awakening . . . Julia Anne Hayley's memories are lovely, not haunting, a billowy cocoon in which she has hidden from life, from living, far too long. But she knows it is time to leave the solitary sanctuary that is her home, and, if she dares, to fly. Jace and Julia have six magical days—and nights—in London at Christmas. But their Christmastime enchantment is like a snowflake, delicate, perfect, and destined to die. The magic cannot possibly last . . . can it? Praise for the novels of Katherine Stone: “Katherine Stone’s unique voice is clearly evident in this newest lyrical tale . . . an almost mystical quality that is distinctly her own.”—Romantic Times on A Midnight Clear “A shimmering, hypnotic story of two wounded souls who heal each other. An addictive and indulgent treat.”—Bookbug on A Midnight Clear “Remarkably romantic and thoroughly enchanting.”—Rendezvous on Pearl Moon “Poignant . . . Cass is an intrepid heroine, but it is Chase who wins our hearts when he refuses to allow Cass’s seeming betrayal to stop him from protecting his beloved.”—Midwest Book Review on Bed of Roses “Fairytale elements mix with those of a present day romance for . . . thoroughly enjoyable results.”—Kirkus Reviews on Rainbows Katherine Stone writes “in the vein of Danielle Steel and Sandra Brown”—Library Journal “Alluring . . . Fascinating . . . Each page brings a new adventure, every plot twist another question begging to be answered.”—Rendezvous on Imagine Love “Heart-tugging . . . few romance fans will remain unmoved.”—Publishers Weekly on Thief of Hearts Katherine Stone's "high quality romance ranks right up there with Nora Roberts."—Booklist “Sweeping drama . . . Her most emotionally charged and intricate story of love yet.”—Romantic Times on Imagine Love
In The Unsung Hero, award-winning author Suzanne Brockmann dazzled readers with her remarkable cast of tough and tender U.S. Navy SEALs. Now her daring men in uniform return for THE DEFIANT HERO—a thrilling novel of steadfast courage, intimate passions, and the profound risks that are taken in the name of love. . . . "The United States refuses to negotiate with terrorists." Meg Moore remembered the warning from her job as a translator in a European embassy. Those same words will spell out a death sentence for her daughter and grandmother who have been kidnapped by a lethal group called the Extremists. Meg will do anything to meet their unspeakable demands; anything—even kill—to save her child. When Navy SEAL Lieutenant, junior grade, John Nilsson is summoned to Washington, D.C., by the FBI to help negotiate a hostage situation, the last person he expects to see holding a foreign ambassador at gunpoint is Meg. He hasn't seen her in years, but he's never forgotten how it feels to hold her in his arms. John could lose his career if he helps her escape. She will lose her life if he doesn't. . . .
