About 90% of the injuries caused by venomous and poisonous animals are manifested by cutaneous signs, due to the inflammatory and necrotic characteristics of various toxins. "Although there is debate about the estimated health burden of rabies, the estimates of direct mortality and the DALYs due to rabies are among the highest of the neglected tropical diseases.
