Matthew Ellison was born in 1793 in Yorkshire, England, and married Jan Willson. They immigrated to America in 1843, and settled in Hancock County, Illinois. He died in 1865.
Matthew Ellison (1793-1865) was the son of Matthew Ellison (1752-1830) and Jane Bolton (d.1829) of Chipping, Lancashire, England. He married Jane Wilson (1800-1876), the daughter of John Wilson (1755-1827) and Ann Langton (d.1837) of near Clitheroe, Lancashire, England, 15 December 1817. Their early married life was spent in the vicinity of Clitheroe, Waddington and Bashaw Hall in western Yorkshire, where he worked in factories. They had ten children. He and his wife were converted to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1838. They emigrated with their family to America in 1841 and settled at Nauvoo, Illinois. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Utah and Wyoming.

Edward became a Mormon convert, moved to Illinois, and then to Salt Lake City, Utah. Descendants lived in Utah and elsewhere. Includes some ancestry of Emily Electa Williams in New England, New York and Iowa. Includes much Stevenson and Williams ancestry in England back to the 1500s, with temple ordinances, 1846-1981.
