What if I told you that in a few short minutes, I could disprove the existence of God? Skeptical? I know I would be, but whether you are an atheist, like me, or a fervent believer, this small booklet will challenge what you think you know about knowledge and the existence of the divine. Plus, I'm funny. I've been an atheist activist for over 30 years and I have talked to hundreds of religious believers of varying religions and degrees of belief. I've heard all the arguments for the belief in a deity and found them insufficient. I've been active in the greater atheist community and heard all the counter-arguments from my fellow non-believers too. Now, I have come up with something new. An argument that is simple and irrefutable. Putting my Master's Degree in Philosophy to good use, this short booklet will at the very least get you thinking. This is a great new argument to use against those door-to-door Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses. Challenge your religious family members with it too. And if you are religious, I dare you to read this booklet. It's short and easy to read and not only will I disprove the existence of God, as an extra bonus, I will give you 5 adequate reasons to be an atheist.

The renowned science writer, mathematician, and bestselling author of Fermat's Last Theorem masterfully refutes the overreaching claims the "New Atheists," providing millions of educated believers with a clear, engaging explanation of what science really says, how there's still much space for the Divine in the universe, and why faith in both God and empirical science are not mutually exclusive. A highly publicized coterie of scientists and thinkers, including Richard Dawkins, the late Christopher Hitchens, and Lawrence Krauss, have vehemently contended that breakthroughs in modern science have disproven the existence of God, asserting that we must accept that the creation of the universe came out of nothing, that religion is evil, that evolution fully explains the dazzling complexity of life, and more. In this much-needed book, science journalist Amir Aczel profoundly disagrees and conclusively demonstrates that science has not, as yet, provided any definitive proof refuting the existence of God. Why Science Does Not Disprove God is his brilliant and incisive analyses of the theories and findings of such titans as Albert Einstein, Roger Penrose, Alan Guth, and Charles Darwin, all of whose major breakthroughs leave open the possibility— and even the strong likelihood—of a Creator. Bolstering his argument, Aczel lucidly discourses on arcane aspects of physics to reveal how quantum theory, the anthropic principle, the fine-tuned dance of protons and quarks, the existence of anti-matter and the theory of parallel universes, also fail to disprove God.

If you think atheists have reason, evidence, and science on their side, think again! Award-winning author Dr. Frank Turek (I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist) will show you how atheists steal reason, evidence, science, and other arguments from God in trying to make their case for atheism. If that sounds contradictory, it's because it is! Atheists can't make their case without appealing to realities only theism can explain. In an engaging and memorable way,Stealing from God exposes these intellectual crimes atheists are committing and then provides four powerful reasons for why Christianity is true.

'Hurray for Michael Palmer!' is how Michael Martin, the distinguished American philosopher, greeted Palmer's The Atheist's Primer (Lutterworth, 2012). Atheism for Beginners, by providing a 'coursebook for schools and colleges,' differs from its predecessor in being designed specifically for teachers and their students. Yet, although different in focus and format, the intention remains the same: to reinstate the importance of philosophy within the debate about God's existence and to act as a corrective tothe largely Darwinian criticisms levelled against religious belief by Richard Dawkins and the so-called 'new atheists'. So, in Palmer's lively history of atheism, extending from the ancient Greeks to the present day, we meet the enduring philosophical arguments against God and the great literature in which they are expressed. Atheism for Beginners is user-friendly and presumes no special grounding in philosophy. Throughout assistance is given by numerous aids to learning: there are exercises, marginal notes, essay questions, bibliographies and a glossary. Also provided are fourteen short biographies of famous atheists. In these respects Palmer follows the format first presented in his widely-read Moral Problems of 1991, long established as a core text inthe teaching of philosophy. In Atheism for Beginners, Palmer covers the main atheistic arguments, discussing issues such as creation, morality, evil, miracles and the motivations of belief. Particular attention is paid to the work of Hume, Marx, Nietzsche and Freud, with a special chapter devoted to the development of 'disproof atheism'. Atheism is often criticized for being unduly pessimistic: that without God there is nothing to look forward to, no life after death, no final righting of wrongs and no hope of salvation. But this, Palmer argues, is 'a slander against the atheistic outlook'. He concludes, therefore, on a positive note, explaining that happiness and personal fulfilment are to be found in the very materialism that religious belief rejects.

"Not only do I believe that it is possible to maintain moral standards without the crutch of religion but I would argue that it is the only way to achieve true goodness." Disproving Christianity and Other Secular Writings compiles popular and lesser-known arguments against the principles established by the Christian canon. Using a phenomenological approach to build his case based on in-depth study at the University of California, Santa Barbara McAfee analyzes the Hebrew Scriptures and New Testament doctrine to build a logical and reasonable case against their validity. From contradictions between lived and portrayed religions to factual errors within the texts themselves, no stone is left unturned in this fully updated and expanded refutation of Christianity.

Throughout history, arguments for and against the existence of God have been largely confined to philosophy and theology, while science has sat on the sidelines. Despite the fact that science has revolutionized every aspect of human life and greatly clarified our understanding of the world, somehow the notion has arisen that it has nothing to say about the possibility of a supreme being, which much of humanity worships as the source of all reality. This book contends that, if God exists, some evidence for this existence should be detectable by scientific means, especially considering the central role that God is alleged to play in the operation of the universe and the lives of humans. Treating the traditional God concept, as conventionally presented in the Judeo-Christian and Islamic traditions, like any other scientific hypothesis, physicist Stenger examines all of the claims made for God's existence. He considers the latest Intelligent Design arguments as evidence of God's influence in biology. He looks at human behavior for evidence of immaterial souls and the possible effects of prayer. He discusses the findings of physics and astronomy in weighing the suggestions that the universe is the work of a creator and that humans are God's special creation. After evaluating all the scientific evidence, Stenger concludes that beyond a reasonable doubt the universe and life appear exactly as we might expect if there were no God. This paperback edition of the New York Times bestselling hardcover edition contains a new foreword by Christopher Hitchens and a postscript by the author in which he responds to reviewers' criticisms of the original edition.

Today we live in extremely violent times, a reality that is often attributed to religious extremism. But can moderates in religion really hide behind above reality and consider themselves not at fault? I don't think so. The truth is that religion can only thrive in an uneducated society where ignorance and emotional thinking is the norm, and therefore it becomes necessary for religion to promote such an attitude. Previous efforts from religious leaders to keep society ignorant takes many forms; Pietism, Pragmatism, Romanticism, Irrationalism, etc. In fact, they were so successful in their efforts there's hardly a modern society on earth which is known more for their rational thinking rather than their emotional thinking. However, a society ruled by emotion and passion is an unstable society, a violent society. Bertrand Russell, the British philosopher made the following argument; "We do not speak of faith that two and two are four . . . We only speak of faith when we wish to substitute emotion for evidence. The substitution of emotion for evidence is apt to lead to strife, since different groups substitute different emotions." In my opinion everyone who promotes a belief in imaginary things, and an attitude which puts emotion and passion before reason, is equally to blame for the negative consequences of promoting such a belief and attitude. In this book, I am advancing the idea that the world will be a better place if fact, knowledge and rational thinking were to be the norm. Sometimes to advance an idea, it becomes necessary to overturn old beliefs and therefore in this book I set out to disprove God's existence.First a few comments on why I think I am uniquely qualified to write a book like this. Something a friend questioned in no uncertain manner; 'You're not a professor of religion or science, so how can you write a book like that?' Well, I happen to believe anyone should be allowed to consider the question of whether God exists or not, and the best way to do so is to look at the evidence. Without a doubt this is something that requires much time and effort, but this is something that anyone can do. Perhaps a professor of religion will find it easier than others to gather the relevant information in religion, and a professor of science will find it easier to gather the relevant scientific information, but with enough application both professors should end up with the same evidence from all fields. The point I want to make is that it only requires hard work to gather all the evidence, but hardly any other skill. However, to gather the evidence is only part of the equation. The other, and most important part, is to evaluate the evidence. There can be little doubt that this is a specialised task, something that requires a fair amount of knowledge, experience and analytical skills. The reality is that purely because of the nature of their work, some professions are better at it than others. In my opinion the clergy are terrible at it because critical and rational thinking does not form part of their vocabulary. Ignorance and emotional thinking rules in religion. I would argue philosophers and scientists are better at evaluating evidence than the clergy, if only because they value knowledge and adhere to the principles of rational thinking. But there is one group of people who work with the gathering and the evaluation of evidence on a daily basis. In fact, it is their bread and butter and they can probably be regarded as experts. They are lawyers. Therefore, as counter intuitive as it might sound, perhaps the most qualified person to write a book about the question of whether God exist or not, is an experienced lawyer!I am an experienced lawyer and look at all the evidence from religion, science, philosophy, sociology, and history, and then extensively evaluate it using the well-established legal principles of proof. This unique approach brings about some truly shocking results.

Of the many world religions, only one claims that its founder returned from the grave. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the very cornerstone of Christianity. But a dead man coming back to life? In our sophisticated age, when myth has given way to science, who can take such a claim seriously? Some argue that Jesus never died on the cross. Conflicting accounts make the empty tomb seem suspect.sHow credible is the evidence for the resurrection? Focusing his award-winning skills as a legal journalist on history's most compelling enigma, Lee Strobel retraces the startling findings that led him from atheism to belief. Drawing on expert testimony first shared in his blockbuster book The Case for Christ, Strobel examines: The Medical Evidence -- Was Jesus' death a sham and his resurrection a hoax? The Evidence of the Missing Body -- Was Jesus' body really absent from his tomb? The Evidence of Appearances -- Was Jesus seen alive after his death on the cross? Written in a hard-hitting journalistic style, The Case for Easter probes the core issues of the resurrection. Jesus Christ, risen from the dead: superstitious myth or life-changing reality? The evidence is in. The verdict is up to you. Book jacket.
