DOWNLOAD EBOOKNurtured in the lap of comfort, educated at Eton and Cambridge, the hero of the British sport-loving public, C. T. Studd, whose Cambridge career has been described as "one long blaze of cricketing glory", created a stir in the secular world of his youth by renouncing wealth and position to follow Christ. He was captain of the Eton XI in 1879, and of Cambridge University in 1883, being accorded in the latter year (vide The Cricketing Annual) "the premier position as an all-round cricketer for the second year in succession". The illness of a brother brought him face to face with realities and the transitoriness of worldly riches and fame. He obeyed the divine command, "Go thy way, sell what thou hast and give to the poor ... take up thy cross and follow me", throwing himself into the work which had called him with the same thoroughness and earnestness with which he had learned to "play a straight bat". Henceforward his life was dedicated to the service of God and his fellow men, and the story of his labours and adventures makes an epic of faith and courage against great odds that will be an inspiration to all who rejoice in a tale of high endeavour.

DOWNLOAD EBOOK"Charles Spurgeon once said, "You're either a missionary or an imposter." To be a Christ-follower means joining Jesus on his mission to redeem humanity. But missional living is easier said than done in a culture drifting toward post-Christian secularism. More than ever, we need a dose of Jesus' missionary ethos to fill our minds with gospel passion ... Each chapter of this book highlights missionary heroes--historical and modern-day Christians--who challenge us to join God's redemptive mission ... You'll find that God uses ordinary, run-of-the-mill folks to extend his glory into the earthly setting. Author David Joannes draws upon history, psychology, life experience, and powerful storytelling to reshape your perception of God's unique plan for your life. He says, "If you really want to thrive on mission, you must allow God to redefine your definition of the normal Christian life."--Publisher

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe history of the church is filled with stories. Stories of triumph, stories of defeat, stories of joy, and stories of sorrow. These stories are a legacy of God's faithfulness to His people. In this book, Dr. Stephen J. Nichols provides postcards from the church through the centuries. These snapshots capture the richness of Christian history with glimpses of fascinating saints, curious places, precious artifacts, and surprising turns of events. In exploring them, Dr. Nichols takes the reader on a lively and informative journey through the record of God's providence to encourage, challenge, and enjoy. This is our story--our family history. "THE CENTURIES OF CHURCH HISTORY GIVE US A LITANY OF GOD'S DELIVERANCES. GOD HAS DONE IT BEFORE, MANY TIMES AND IN MANY WAYS, AND HE CAN DO IT AGAIN. HE WILL DO IT AGAIN. AND IN THAT, WE FIND COURAGE FOR TODAY AND FOR TOMORROW."
