The purpose of this project is to measure the effectiveness of an independently designed reproductive health class on rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection. Adolescent girls ages twelve to eighteen will be the target audience for this program. Presenting material in a format that is reflective of the current time and culture of our youth, up-to-date information regarding sexually transmitted infection, contraceptives, and abstinence can be provided in a comfortable yet protected environment. Several local physicians and registered nurses are in support of this program and have volunteered future time and service. The project start-up costs are minimal, for advertising, materials and supplies would be approximately $1,038.00. Success can easily be measured by the data routinely obtained in the obstetrical department of the hospital.
