“Code Name Excalibur”, the first of three books in the Excalibur Series, is an exciting triumphant account of how a young boy transforms into one of the world’s great “spy masters”. His “outside of the box” thinking, compassionate fearlessness, and sheer audacity allows him to prevail against all odds as he challenges fate and charges through a life, filled with fantastic characters, dangerous adversaries and exciting adventures until he is finally forced to make a choice that will define his life and the lives of countless others. But in spite of his heroics, his outrageous antics finally force his admiring Commanding General and mentoring United States Congressman to rein him in for the sake of all concerned. And so, they ship him off to Washington, D.C. for some reining in, and training in, what every spy should know. And, so it was there, behind the hallowed, Kevlar covered walls of the Pentagon, the final transformation took place as the boy was forged into the man they call “Excalibur”.

By the year 2024 world debt has skyrocketed to over $300 Trillion, and with the US dollar in free fall a desperate G20 votes a return to the gold standard. The gold price skyrockets overnight, fortunate for Australia which has plenty of gold in the ground – hugely boosted by the discovery of the legendary Lasseter’s Reef. But there is a problem. Now boasting the world’s largest navy and a modern air force, China has been expanding its military bases south and resolves to use them in a ‘military solution’ in its quest for gold and territory. Fortunately, US intelligence has penetrated the PLA State Security Centre and supplies ASIO with China’s complete invasion plan of PNG and northern Australia. Aware that under the ANZUS treaty an isolationist America will supply weapons and technology but no ‘boots on the ground,’ Australia has five years to shore up its defences and find a way to stop the juggernaut. They may have found it in a most unlikely place. A weapon that becomes known as Excalibur.

“T he wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid. And a child shall lead them.” She smiled. “That’s you, Michael. That’s why Brother Cyrus needs you. You’re going to help us fulfill the prophecy.” The Omega Theory opens with media reports that, despite U.S. warnings, Iran has tested a nuclear bomb. But the blast from the device is different and far more dangerous than that of any previous nuclear weapon. Surveillance instruments show that for one split second an event occurred that had not taken place since the Big Bang fourteen billion years ago. Meanwhile, science historian David Swift and quantum physicist Monique Reynolds learn that their autistic son, Michael, has been kidnapped by a militant cult called the True Believers. Michael, a descendant of Albert Einstein, has inherited Einstein’s remarkable intelligence and is the only person in the world who knows Einstein’s last secret—the Final Theory, a set of equations that could explain all the forces of nature. Only those who understand the key to creation could know how to destroy it. The Iranian nuclear blast is a demonstration of this understanding. Soon David and Monique realize their desperate search for Michael is also a desperate race to stop the horrific power of the theory from being unleashed. Joining forces with FBI Agent Lucille Parker, David and Monique race from the Old City of Jerusalem to the deserts of Turkmenistan to rescue Michael and stop the cult’s fanatic leader. Their journey proves just how difficult it is to stop those who are willing to die in the name of God. Praised by bestselling peers such as Douglas Preston and James Rollins, Mark Alpert shows he is at the top of his writing game and the cutting edge of science, seamlessly weaving fact and fiction with nonstop heart-pounding action in this explosive thriller. We will never see our universe in quite the same way again.

After a 13-day siege by the Mexican Army in March 1836 the Alamo fell. 185 Texans were killed while trying to defend this fortress. The Mexican Army marched on to Goliad where they massacred 350 Texans. The Texas Army, led by General Sam Houston, engaged and defeated General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's Mexican forces at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. Located in present-day Harris County, Texas it was the decisive battle of the Texas revolution in a fight that lasted just eighteen minutes. About 700 Mexican soldiers were killed and 730 captured, while only nine Texans died. This battle paved the way for the Republic of Texas to become a sovereign nation. Sam Houston became a national celebrity and the Texans' rallying cries, "Remember the Alamo!" and "Remember Goliad!" became etched into history and legend. With its sovereignty declared Texas existed as an independent nation state from 1836 to 1846, with a promising healthy economy. It had trade relationships with several other nations, especially Great Britain. When Texas agreed to join the Union of the United States in 1846, it reserved the right under its constitution to secede from the United States and once more become a nation in itself should its people so decide. If this were to happen, Texas could be divided into five individual states, becoming once again, the Republic of Texas. The geography, natural resources including petroleum, agriculture, ranching, universities, and industry of Texas enable it, if necessary, to be the independent nation that it reserved the right to be. At different times by different Texans there have been discussions regarding the need and achievability of Texas seceding from the United States. This was generally thought of as all talk and no one publically or seriously considered secession. However, some Texans now believe recent national politics producing a new federalism have pushed Texas too far from its traditions and beliefs and it's time for the rebirth of the Republic of Texas. This book is a history of the complex relations between scientific advisors, primarily physicists, and U.S. presidents in their role as decision makers about nuclear weapons and military strategy. The story, unsurprisingly, is one of considerable tension between the "experts" and the politicians, as scientists seek to influence policy and presidents alternate between accepting their advice and resisting or even ignoring it. First published in 1992, the book has been brought up to date to include the experiences of science advisors to President Clinton. In addition, the texts of eleven crucial documents, from the Einstein-Szilard letter to President Roosevelt (1939) to the announcement of the Strategic Defense Initiative by President Reagan (1983), have been added as appendixes.

Occasionally in the world of science, unexpected results that appear to violate accepted laws of nature can herald revolutionary advances in human knowledge. Many of these 'revolutionary' discoveries do, however, turn out to be wrong, and eminent scientists must carry the burden of a tarnished reputation for mistakenly thinking they have made a great discovery. In this entertaining text, Robert Park examines the social, economic, and political forces that elicit or support flawed or fake science and then go on to sustain it in the face of often overwhelming contrary evidence. Readers are made aware of the fine line that exists between foolishness and fraud and are warned against irrational beliefs dressed up as scientific garb.
