This document is a letter from J.B.T. to George R. Gilmer, Governor of Georgia (1829-1831, 1837-1839), dated April 20, 1839. The letter describes the misbehavior of soldiers stationed at posts in Ware County, ostensibly to protect the citizens from Indian attacks. The soldiers have been destroying property of the local citizens, killing their livestock, and stealing their crops, while refusing to remunerate the citizens. The letter asserts that the soldiers are a greater threat to the Ware County citizens than the Indians.
