Si se puede decir que en nuestra época se ha producido una revolución filosófica, ellas ha consistido en esta manera de referir la elucidación epistemológica a las interrelaciones de los hombres en sociedad. El ensayo de Winch es una reflexión crítica sobre el positivismo en filosofía y en ciencias sociales, que se inspira en el pensamiento de Wittgenstein, cuya premisa se podría comprimir en esta cita: «Lo que ha de aceptarse, lo que está dado, es –podría decirse– la existencia de formas de vida».

This book presents a cultural history of psychology that analyzes the diverse contexts in which psychological knowledge and practices have developed in Latin America. The book aims to contribute to the growing effort to develop a theoretical knowledge that complements the biographical perspective centered on the great figures, with a polycentric history that emphasizes the different cultural, social, economic and political phenomena that accompanied the emergence of psychology. In his encyclical Aeterni Patris (1879), Pope Leo XIII expressed the conviction that the renewed study of the philosophical legacy of Saint Thomas Aquinas would help Catholics to engage in a dialogue with secular modernity while maintaining respect for Church doctrine and tradition. As a result, the neo-scholastic framework dominated Catholic intellectual production for nearly a century thereafter. This volume assesses the societal impact of the Thomist revival movement, with particular attention to the juridical dimension of this epistemic community.
