In this unique book, best-selling angel author Theresa Cheung takes readers on a guided tour of Irish spirituality with the focus firmly on the nation's deep-rooted belief in angels. Punctuated throughout with real-life stories from both Irish people and visitors to the 'Emerald Isle', it will show that although being Irish isn't necessarily a prerequisite for seeing angels, it can certainly act as a catalyst. Many Irish people have grown up with stories of guardian angels and protector saints like St Patrick, so their insights and stories provide the perfect launching point to help others connect with their own angels. Here are stories of miraculous healing from this mysterious and sacred land, which has historical associations with the divine. This book will encourage spiritual seekers of all ages to make a pilgrimage to Ireland or, if that isn't possible, to feed their souls with Celtic spirituality.

How does a written literature come into being within an oral culture, and how does such a literature achieve and maintain its authority? Joseph Falaky Nagy addresses those issues in his wide-ranging reading of the medieval literature of Ireland, from the writings of St. Patrick to the epic tales about the warrior Cú Chulainn. These texts, written in both Latin and Irish, constitute an adventurous and productive experiment in staging confrontations between the written and the spoken, the Christian and the pagan. The early Irish literati, primarily clerics living within a monastic milieu, produced literature that included saints' lives, heroic sagas, law tracts, and other genres. They sought to invest their literature with an authority different from that of the traditions from which they borrowed, native and foreign. To achieve this goal, they cast many of their texts as the outcome of momentous dialogues between saints and angelic messengers or remarkable interviews with the dead, who could reveal some insight from the past that needed to be rediscovered by forgetful contemporaries. Conversing with angels and ancients, medieval Irish writers boldly inscribed their visions of the past onto the new Christian order and its literature. Nagy includes portions of the original Latin and Irish texts that are not readily available to scholars, along with full translations.

A quarter-century after writing the acclaimed The Celtic Way, Ian Bradley, one of the foremost experts on the spiritual beliefs and practices of the indigenous Christian communities in the British Isles in the early Middle Ages, revisits the original sources and makes a substantial reappraisal of Celtic spirituality. Following the Celtic Way challenges many of the myths and romanticized portrayals of Celtic Christianity and shows evidence of the harder edge and demanding austerity of the lives and spirituality of believers from this time. This book sits among the most insightful and up-to-date introductions to this distinctive and evocative expression of faith and draws out its themes that are most relevant to us today. It also offers practical spiritual guidance on how to follow the Celtic Way in the contemporary world.
