The chart on the cover of this bulletin shows California livestock slaughter over the past 13 years converted to a dressed weight basis. An up ward trend is immediately apparent a trend that corresponds very closely to the population growth in California. During the past decade output of beef and veal has increased nearly 50 percent, and lamb and mutton production has expanded more than one-third.
