Siyakha Mguni’s personal journey, over many years, to discover the significance of a hitherto enigmatic theme in San rock paintings known as formlings. In Termites of the Gods, Siyakha Mguni narrates his personal journey, over many years, to discover the significance of a hitherto enigmatic theme in San rock paintings known as 'formlings'. Formlings are a painting category found across the southern African region, including South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe, with its densest concentration in the Matopo Hills, Zimbabwe. Generations of archaeologists and anthropologists have wrestled with the meaning of this painting theme in San cosmology without reaching consensus or a plausible explanation. Drawing on San ethnography published over the past 150 years, Mguni argues that formlings are, in fact, representations of flying termites and their underground nests, and are associated with botantical subjects and a range of larger animals considered by the San to have great power and spiritual significance. This book fills a gap in rock art studies around the interpretation and meaning of formlings. It offers an innovative methodological approach for understanding subject matter in San rock art that is not easily recognisable, and will be an invaluable reference book to students and scholars in rock art studies and archaeology.
This new companion to William James The Varieties of Religious Experience offers contemporary responses to James's seminal book from key international experts.
An original model of the nature and workings of emotions. • Shows how to both unleash and harness the power of emotions to promote physical health, mental clarity, creativity, and more satisfying relationships. • Offers easy-to-follow breathing exercises that allow readers to tap into their reservoirs of vital energy to accomplish their goals. • By the author of Breathing: Expanding Your Power and Energy (25,000 sold). Emotions are the link between body, mind, spirit, and all our relationships, yet as Westerners we have been trained from our earliest years to repress our emotions. In our society, those who appear the least passionate are seen as strong, confident, and mature. In our desire to attain this goal, we often suppress our deepest emotions, eventually causing a blockage of energy that leaves us numb and unable to access our authentic feelings. Michael Sky explains that emotions are the vital energy source inside each of us that we can harness and direct in a positive way to promote better physical health, mental clarity, creativity, and more satisfying relationships. He details four simple but potent tools to aid in the productive channeling of powerful emotional energy: active acceptance; dynamic relaxation; conscious, connected breathing; and creative choice. Taken together these tools create a lifestyle that frees suppressed emotional energies and allows for empowered responses. With meditative breathing practices at the end of each chapter and inspirational passages from the teachings of Adi Da, readers will learn to positively experience and develop their emotions while enhancing their creativity and productivity to accomplish their goals.
This Research Book “Surface Energy (continued)” explains in detail, the phenomenon of a Surface; with/without a surface energy gradient on it, coming in contact with a Fluid; at different temperatures, in terms of the Surface Energy and Surface Energy Gradient. This Research Book “Surface Energy (continued)” explains in detail, the phenomenon of a Surface; with/without a surface energy gradient on it, coming in contact with a Fluid; at different temperatures, in terms of the Surface Energy and Surface Energy Gradient. This Research Paper is then followed by the full- explanation of the two Patents filed on this Surface Energy Theory described in this Book. From the Research Paper and the Description of the Patents filed, it would be evident that Surface Energy is having enormous credit in the wide range of Engineering fields including the Electronics Cooling.
The parallel higher level Red books in the Catalyst series use the same format as the Green books. This text also includes hands-on activities, summaries, and in-text questions to help pupils consolidate their knowledge.
The 2016 2nd International Conference on Energy Equipment Science and Engineering (ICEESE 2016) will be held on November 12-14, 2016 in Guangzhou, China. ICEESE 2016 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of energy equipment science and engineering to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in energy equipment science and engineering and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in energy equipment science and engineering and related areas.
This book contains the proceedings of the largest conference ever held on this subject. The strong interest in this field is largely due to the fact that both fundamental aspects of laser-surface interaction as well as applied techniques for thin film generation and patterning were treated in detail by experts from around the world.
