This edited volume explores migration movements to Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Portugal from Brazil, Morocco and Ukraine, focusing on how the migration processes of yesterday influence those of today. The central analytical tool for this undertaking is the concept of feedback. This volume identifies various feedback mechanisms that initiate, perpetuate and reverse migration movements. It pays attention to the role of personal networks, but it also moves beyond networks by analysing the role of institutions, macro-level factors and forms of broadcast feedback operating through impersonal channels. Based on extensive surveys and in-depth interviews, it changes our understanding of how and why patterns of international migration change over time.

This book explores the activism promoted by organised networks of civil society actors in opening up possibilities for more democratic supranational governance. It examines the positive and negative impact that such networks of civil society actors – named “interlocutory coalitions” – may have on the convergence of principles of administrative governance across the European legal system and other supranational legal systems. The book takes two main controversial aspects into account: the first relates to the convergence between administrative rules pertaining to different supranational regulatory systems. Traditionally, the spread of methods of administrative governance has been depicted primarily against the background of the interactions between the domestic and the supranational arena, both from a top-down and bottom-up perspective. However, the exploration of interactions occurring at the supranational level between legal regimes is still not grounded on adequate empirical evidence. The second controversial aspect considered in this book consists of the role of civil society actors operating at the supranational level. In its discussion of the first aspect, the book focuses on the relations between the European administrative law and the administrative principles of law pertaining to other supranational regulatory regimes and regulators, including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Asian Development Bank, and the Council of Europe. The examination of the second aspect involves the exploration of the still little examined, but crucial, role of civil society organised networks in shaping global administrative law. These “interlocutory coalitions” include NGOs, think tanks, foundations, universities, and occasionally activists with no formal connections to civil society organisations. The book describes such interlocutory coalitions as drivers of harmonized principles of participatory democracy at the European and global levels. However, interlocutory coalitions show a number of tensions (e.g. the governability of coalitions, the competition among them) that may hamper the impact they have on the reconfiguration of individuals’ rights, entitlements and responsibilities in the global arena.

5G and Beyond Wireless Networks: Technology, Network Deployments, and Materials for Antenna Design offers a comprehensive overview of 5G and beyond 5G wireless networks along with emerging technologies that support the design and development of wireless networks. It also includes discussions on various materials used for practical antenna design which are suitable for 5G, beyond 5G applications, and cell-free massive MIMO systems. The book discusses the latest techniques used in 5G and beyond 5G (B5G) communication, such as non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), device-to-device (D2D) communication, 6G ultra-dense O-RAN, rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA), simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT), massive multiple input multiple output (mMIMO), and cell-free massive MIMO systems, which are explained in detail for 5G and beyond cellular networks. The description of NOMA and their benefit for 5G and beyond networks is also addressed along with D2D communication for next generation cellular networks. RSMA technique is also explained for 6G communication. Detailed descriptions for the design and development of 5G and beyond networks over various techniques are included. The materials specification to design antenna for 5G application are also given. The role of metalens in designing effective antennas and material specifications for 5G applications is explained in this book. Apart from the above emerging topics, this book also gives ideas about intelligent communication, Internet of Multimedia Things (IOMT), millimeter-wave MIMO-UFMC, and fog computing cloud networks. The last chapter gives details about the legal frameworks for 5G technology for responsible and sustainable deployment. Overall, this book may benefit network design engineers and researchers working in the area of next generation cellular networks. The contents of this book will be helpful for young researchers and master students, and network design engineers who are working in the area of next generation cellular networks.

A guide to the physical and mathematical-statistical approaches to personal and mobile wireless communication networks Wireless Networks Technologies offers an authoritative account of several current and modern wireless networks and the corresponding novel technologies and techniques. The text explores the main aspects of the "physical layer" of the technology. The authors—noted experts on the topic—examine the well-known networks (from 2-G to 3-G) in a historical perspective. They also illuminate the "physical layer" of networks while presenting polarization diversity analysis and positioning of any subscriber located in areas of service both for land-to-land and land-to-atmosphere communication links. The book includes clear descriptions of planning techniques for different integrated femto/pico/micro/macrocell deployments. The authors also examine new technologies of time and frequency dispersy and multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) modern network design in space and time domains. In addition, the text contains a discussion of a MIMO network based on multi-beam adaptive antennas. This important book: Provides an examination of current and modern wireless networks Describes various techniques of signal data capacity and spectral efficiency based on the universal stochastic approach Explains how usage of MIMO systems with adaptive multi-beam antennas increase the grade of service and quality of service of modern networks beyond 4-G Provides comparative analysis of depolarization effects and the corresponding path loss factor for rural, mixed residential, suburban, and urban land areas Written for students and instructors as well as designers and engineers of wireless communications systems, Wireless Networks Technologies offers a combination of physical and mathematical-statistical approaches to predict operational parameters of land-to-land and land-to-atmosphere personal and mobile wireless communication networks.
