It is innate in human being to discover and explore what they do not know and the ocean is one of those. The sea covers 71% of the earth's surface. We know the five great oceans are: Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic and Antarctic but we know only the 10% of the deep sea, and we know less than 10% of the creatures that live there. Definitely one of the factors that has played as an antagonist in the knowledge of the sea, was the absence of technologies to explore the depths. Fortunately in 60 years, man has made great strides, managing to get to touch even the deepest point of the abyss, the Mariana Trench and this is thanks to modern technology as ROV. The ROVs are used in scientific research, in the Oil & Gas, defense, research for humanitarian purposes, in the construction and maintenance of marine culture, such as support to renewable energy, nuclear, in archeology, in the hunt for treasures and openings of sea mines. Many people are wondering what ROVs are and what they are used for, others are wondering how to become a ‘ROV Operator’. The purpose of this manual is not only to give an answer to these questions but also to teach future ROV pilots how to become professionals marine robotics.

Marine Mammal Observer and Passive Acoustic Monitoring Handbook is the ultimate instruction manual for mitigation measures to minimise man-made acoustical and physical disturbances to marine mammals from industrial and defence activities. Based on more than two decades of offshore experience, and a decade of supplying MMO and PAM services (commercial and scientific), the Handbook is a long-overdue reference guide that seeks to improve standards worldwide for marine operations such as seismic and drilling exploration, wind farm and civil engineering piling, dredging, trenching, rock-dumping, hydrographical surveys, and military/defence exercises. By popular request, this manual will also form an accompaniment to MMO and PAM courses. The Handbook consolidates all aspects of this discipline into one easily accessible resource, to educate all stakeholders (e.g. MMOs, PAM operators, suppliers, recruitment agencies, clients, contractors, regulators, NGOs, consultants, scientists, academia and media), regardless of experience. Topics include worldwide legislation, compliance, anthropogenic noise sources and potential effects, training, offshore life, visual and acoustic monitoring (theory and practice), marine mammal distribution, hearing and vocalisations, and report writing. Advice is provided on implementing sensible and practical mitigation techniques, appropriate technologies, data collection, client and regulator liaison, and project kick-off meetings. "The Handbook is an indispensable How To guide to the growing and increasingly important occupation of marine mammal monitoring, written with clarity and humor by scientists who have extensive experience in this field." —Dr Phillip J. Clapham, world-renowned cetologist and Director of the Cetacean Assessment and Ecology Program at the National Marine Mammal Laboratory in Seattle.

Leadership of Change Volume 1: Change Management Fables Change Management Fables: Ten fables about the leadership paradox of implementing organisational change management versus delivering normal day-to-day operations. About this Book: Leaders go about their daily task of implementing the organisation’s strategy to deliver financial results. All of a sudden there is a change explosion that disrupts normal day-to-day operations. This is the leadership paradox: implementing change versus delivering day-to-day operations. Leaders then need to adjust their focus to implement the change, so that the organisation stays ahead of the competition and continues to deliver revenue to its shareholders. That means the change has to ensure a return on investment, full employee change adoption, and sustainable change. Leadership of Change® Volume 1 represents the author’s experiences throughout his career, it, provides ten practical stories of typical and consistent change management challenges that organisations and leaders experience when implementing organisation change, transitioning their organisation from the current ‘a’ state to the future ‘B’ state. Potential solutions are introduced which are developed in Volumes 2 and 3. This book includes illustrations as well as the a2B Change Management Framework® (a2BCMF®), the AUILM® Employee Change Adoption Model and the a2B5R® Employee Behaviour Change Model. Other Leadership of Change® Volumes: Volume 2 - a2B Change Management Pocket Guides Volume 3 – Change Management Handbook The volumes in this series are intended to be leading practice in organisational change management and implementation, which supports strategy execution. They are based on the author’s work, with over thirty years of organisational change implementation, transformation, and business improvement experience in over twenty countries. Volume 1 shares change management challenges and experiences told through ten short fables that are based in some way on the author’s work experience. Volume 2 is the a2B Change Management Pocket Guide that is practical, hands-on and provides a framework, concepts, models and techniques to help employees with change implementation. Volume 3 is the a2B Change Management Handbook which provides many more concepts and much more detail than contained within the Pocket Guide. Change Management Pocket Guide: This pocket guide contains over thirty concepts, models, figures, assessments, tools, templates, checklists, plans, a roadmap and glossary structured around the ten-step a2B Change Management Framework®. About this Book: This pocket guide is a practical, hands-on guide built around the a2B Change Management Framework® (a2BCMF®) with over thirty models, tool and change concepts. It is designed to support change practitioners delivering hands-on organisational change. The pocket guide supports a programme approach to organisational change, starting with ‘change definition’ (strategy alignment) and moving through to ‘closing and sustain’ the change. The ten-step a2BCMF® is supported by over thirty concepts, a change adoption model, a behavioural change model, figures, assessments, tools, templates, checklists and plans, as well as a roadmap and glossary. It covers the key change management concepts such as sponsorship, communications, readiness, resistance and adoption. The assessments provide valuable input on whether the team should progress from one critical a2BCMF® step to the next. Change Management Handbook: This handbook contains over fifty concepts, models, figures, assessments, tools, templates, checklists, plans, a roadmap and glossary structured around the ten-step a2B Change Management Framework® each with a practical case study. About this Book: This handbook is for growth mindset leaders, senior managers, students, HR professionals and change management practitioners who want to deliver organisational change while their organisation continues with day-to-day operations. The Leadership of Change Volume 3 is based on over thirty years of experience implementing change, transformation and improvements into some of the world’s largest and most successful organisations across many countries and cultures. It provides deep insights into change programme delivery using the a2B Change Management Framework®. It starts by aligning the change with the organisation’s strategy and vision, moving through to successfully closing and sustaining the change. It covers ten key change management implementation concepts in detail, which include sponsorship, change history, communication, change planning, readiness, resistance, developing the new skills and behaviours, as well as adoption. It also includes the AUILM® Employee Change Adoption Model and the a2B5R® Employee Behaviour Change Model.

People throughout the world use crude oil products in some form every day: the plastic bottles we drink from, the gasoline that powers our vehicles, and the desks we sit at in school and work. These are all things that make our lives easier. However, we might not have access to them without the hard work put in by oil rig workers. These men and women work on offshore oil rigs away from their friends and families for weeks at a time. Readers will learn about what it takes to become an oil rig worker, the different types of jobs available on an oil rig, and why these jobs are so important to modern society.

If technology is an undeniable catalyst for progress, then energy is its inevitable basic food. It is no coincidence that since the industrial revolution, economic growth has been fuelled first by coal, then by oil & gas. Although energy intensity reserves are still sizeable in emerging economies and the technological catalyst can partially dematerialize growth, it is unrealistic to separate growth from its basic food. And, even if the “fossil energies share” (oil/gas/coal) will lose a few percent to nuclear and renewable energies over the next decades, all the indicators point to a world mix in which the fossil energy share will still top 75% by 2035. Driven by growth in emerging countries, the demand for oil and gas will continue to grow steadily. Even if there are enough oil and gas reserves to see us through the next three decades, will the industry be able to exploit and produce new resources that are increasingly complex to develop at a sufficient rate and which are often located in politically unstable countries? Not to mention the added challenge of the growing numbers of stakeholders who are increasingly insistent on industrial safety, environment and societal issues? In particular, will non-conventional resources, whose production growth could defer the oil & gas peaks by several decades, be able to withstand political and environmental lobbies? The evolution of oil & gas landscape over the past few years reveals a disturbing increase in the time required to develop large new fields and an accelerated decline of the production base due to the ageing of most of the mature-field facilities. This book aims to analyze all the critical factors (technical, political, economic, social and human) that could potentially accelerate or delay the maintenance and redevelopment of mature producing fields as well as the discovery and development of new conventional and unconventional resources. Insofar as in 2035, oil and gas still account for more than half of the world primary energy consumption, the appropriate management of these critical factors is crucial to ensuring, at least in the medium term, the ”Grail of Growth”. However, the hope of achieving the 450 ppm targets of Copenhagen has been shattered – bad news for the human population which is becoming more concerned with ensuring its short-term growth than with its long-term survival. Our energy future is not set in stone. Contents : 1. The food of growth. 2. Limiting the decline of the basement. 3. The increasing complexity of new developments. 4. Reaching excellence in safety. 5. Obtaining an environmental and social license to operate. 6. The “Energy” of the “Energy”. 7. Our energy future is not set in stone.

The blowout of the Macondo well on April 20, 2010, led to enormous consequences for the individuals involved in the drilling operations, and for their families. Eleven workers on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig lost their lives and 16 others were seriously injured. There were also enormous consequences for the companies involved in the drilling operations, to the Gulf of Mexico environment, and to the economy of the region and beyond. The flow continued for nearly 3 months before the well could be completely killed, during which time, nearly 5 million barrels of oil spilled into the gulf. Macondo Well-Deepwater Horizon Blowout examines the causes of the blowout and provides a series of recommendations, for both the oil and gas industry and government regulators, intended to reduce the likelihood and impact of any future losses of well control during offshore drilling. According to this report, companies involved in offshore drilling should take a "system safety" approach to anticipating and managing possible dangers at every level of operation-from ensuring the integrity of wells to designing blowout preventers that function under all foreseeable conditions-in order to reduce the risk of another accident as catastrophic as the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill. In addition, an enhanced regulatory approach should combine strong industry safety goals with mandatory oversight at critical points during drilling operations. Macondo Well-Deepwater Horizon Blowout discusses ultimate responsibility and accountability for well integrity and safety of offshore equipment, formal system safety education and training of personnel engaged in offshore drilling, and guidelines that should be established so that well designs incorporate protection against the various credible risks associated with the drilling and abandonment process. This book will be of interest to professionals in the oil and gas industry, government decision makers, environmental advocacy groups, and others who seek an understanding of the processes involved in order to ensure safety in undertakings of this nature.
