For all radiology residents and practitioners faced with mastering the huge array of image-based measurements and classifications in orthopedics, Measurement Methods Classifications in Musculoskeletal Radiology fills an important gap.Highly practical and accessible, it presents the measurement techniques, classification systems, scoring methods, and reference values currently in use in musculoskeletal radiology in a single, comprehensive volume, stressing the significance of each for determining the stage, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of a wide range of orthopedic disorders. Special Features: Gathers all currently fragmented information on musculoskeletal radiology measurements and classification systems (excluding bone fractures) into one convenient text eliminating the need for time-consuming memorization and literature searches Covers all established measurement methods made using conventional and sectional imaging techniques Includes nearly 400 detailed illustrations and radiological images showing reference lines, markings, orientations, and angles, with key values indicated throughout Logically structured by anatomic sites and pathologies for easy access to information, with clinical pearls highlighted in every chapter Offers practical guidance on the relevance and reliability of each imaging method, preferred techniques for specific diseases, and tips for achieving the clearest and most precise measurement results Ideal for use at the radiology workstation, this generously illustrated resource will also be helpful to orthopedic specialists and trauma surgeons who utilize radiologic measurements and classifications for optimal diagnostic and treatment decisions.
Radiology though being restricted to only analyzing images, carries a greater depth to it in encompassing all the forms and fields of medicine from embryology, pathology to treatment and its response. The importance of radiology in the present set-up is very high and no patient work-up is complete without a radiological investigation. Quantitative and qualitative perspectives have always been the two sides of a coin in radiology. Both have been synergistic to each other in not only identifying the lesion, characterizing it but also in guiding effective planning of management, its execution and follow-up. The role of measurements so plays a more integral part at all these levels. Measurements also provide a distinct sense of accuracy and specificity in aiding diagnosis. The experience of taking various measurements in radiology during my postgraduate days made me realize the need for handbook in simple, concise, tabular and diagrammatic format to facilitate the easy and fast reporting of various cases by radiologists. Data contained in this book is compiled from various standard radiology textbooks (refer Bibliography), journals and Internet over the years since my postgraduate days, this will be companion to standard textbooks.
- Contains medical disorders that range from ordinary to rare thereby spanning the spectrum of medical radiology - This atlas has been divided into chapters on Pulmonology, Cardiology, Barium Studies, Skeletal System, Abdomen including Intravenous Urographics and lastly CT and MRIs of Brain - Salient features of common diseases have been added at the beginning of the chapters for the benefit of students - Provides such an archive in a readily accessible form and with sufficient clinical details that each case assists in the building of the knowledge base - A collection of more than 700 mostly conventional radiological images including plain radiographs, contrast examination, computed tomography and a few magnetic resonance imaging scans.
Featuring over 1,500 mammographic images, this atlas is a comprehensive guide to interpreting mammograms. It presents the full spectrum of manifestations of breast diseases, as well as cases involving the postsurgical and augmented breast. Chapters are organized according to the pattern seen on the mammogram to develop readers' pattern recognition skills and to allow quick and complete definition of etiologies and clinical implications for a particular finding. This edition includes new chapters on the augmented breast, the role of ultrasound and MRI in breast imaging, and imaging-guided breast interventions. The terminology of the BI-RADS® lexicon is used throughout.
This book provides the latest recommendations for ultrasound examination of the entire urogenital system, particularly in the male. The coverage encompasses the role of ultrasound in imaging of disorders of the kidneys, urinary tract, prostate, seminal vesicles, bladder, testes, and penis, including male infertility disorders. In addition, detailed consideration is given to intraoperative and interventional ultrasound and recently developed ultrasound techniques. Each chapter defines the purpose of and indications for ultrasound, identifies its benefits and limitations, specifies the technological standards for devices, outlines performance of the investigation, establishes the expected accuracy for differential diagnosis, and indicates the reporting method. Most of the recommendations are based on review of the literature, on previous recommendations, and on the opinions of the experts of the Imaging Working Group of the Italian Society of Urology (SIU) and the Italian Society of Ultrasound in Urology, Andrology, and Nephrology (SIEUN). The book will be of value for all physicians involved in the first-line evaluation of diseases of the renal/urinary system and male genital disorders.
Introducing a brand-new volume of The Core Curriculum--a series of textbooks that are indispensable as both guides for radiology residents' rotations and study tools for written boards or recertification exams. Each volume of The Core Curriculum examines one key area--such as ultrasound, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging, cardiopulmonary imaging, head-and-neck imaging, or interventional radiology--and focuses on the essential information readers need to do well on the boards. The user-friendly presentation includes chapter outlines...tables...bulleted lists...boxed text...margin notes...key review points...hundreds of illustrations...and an easy-to-follow layout.
