This brief presents a solution to the interpolation problem for arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (ACM) sets of points in the multiprojective space P^1 x P^1. It collects the various current threads in the literature on this topic with the aim of providing a self-contained, unified introduction while also advancing some new ideas. The relevant constructions related to multiprojective spaces are reviewed first, followed by the basic properties of points in P^1 x P^1, the bigraded Hilbert function, and ACM sets of points. The authors then show how, using a combinatorial description of ACM points in P^1 x P^1, the bigraded Hilbert function can be computed and, as a result, solve the interpolation problem. In subsequent chapters, they consider fat points and double points in P^1 x P^1 and demonstrate how to use their results to answer questions and problems of interest in commutative algebra. Throughout the book, chapters end with a brief historical overview, citations of related results, and, where relevant, open questions that may inspire future research. Graduate students and researchers working in algebraic geometry and commutative algebra will find this book to be a valuable contribution to the literature.

The Latin-American conference on algebra, the XV Coloquio Latinoamericano de Algebra (Cocoyoc, Mexico), consisted of plenary sessions of general interest and special sessions on algebraic combinatorics, associative rings, cohomology of rings and algebras, commutative algebra, group representations, Hopf algebras, number theory, quantum groups, and representation theory of algebras. This proceedings volume contains original research papers related to talks at the colloquium. In addition, there are several surveys presenting important topics to a broad mathematical audience. There are also two invited papers by Raymundo Bautista and Roberto Martinez, founders of the Mexican school of representation theory of algebras. The book is suitable for graduate students and researchers interested in algebra.

This volume contains the proceedings of the AMS-EMS-SMF Special Session on Deformations of Artinian Algebras and Jordan Type, held July 18?22, 2022, at the Universit‚ Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble, France. Articles included are a survey and open problems on deformations and relation to the Hilbert scheme; a survey of commuting nilpotent matrices and their Jordan type; and a survey of Specht ideals and their perfection in the two-rowed case. Other articles treat topics such as the Jordan type of local Artinian algebras, Waring decompositions of ternary forms, questions about Hessians, a geometric approach to Lefschetz properties, deformations of codimension two local Artin rings using Hilbert-Burch matrices, and parametrization of local Artinian algebras in codimension three. Each of the articles brings new results on the boundary of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry.

This book aims to be a comprehensive treatise on the interactions between Coding Theory and Commutative Algebra. With the help of a multitude of examples, it expands and systematizes the known and versatile commutative algebraic framework used, since the early 90’s, to study linear codes. The book provides the necessary background for the reader to advance with similar research on coding theory topics from commutative algebraic perspectives.

This comprehensive overview of determinantal ideals includes an analysis of the latest results. Following the carefully structured presentation, you’ll develop new insights into addressing and solving open problems in liaison theory and Hilbert schemes. Three principal problems are addressed in the book: CI-liaison class and G-liaison class of standard determinantal ideals; the multiplicity conjecture for standard determinantal ideals; and unobstructedness and dimension of families of standard determinantal ideals. The author, Rosa M. Miro-Roig, is the winner of the 2007 Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize.
