This volume contains the latest in the series of ICAPR proceedings on the state-of-the-art of different facets of pattern recognition. These conferences have already carved out a unique position among events attended by the pattern recognition community. The contributions tackle open problems in the classic fields of image and video processing, document analysis and multimedia object retrieval as well as more advanced topics in biometrics speech and signal analysis. Many of the papers focus both on theory and application driven basic research pattern recognition.
This book gathers high-quality research papers presented at the 6th International Conference on Advanced Computing and Intelligent Engineering (ICACIE 2021) organized by Bhubaneswar Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, during December 23–24, 2021. It includes sections describing technical advances and the latest research in the fields of computing and intelligent engineering. Intended for graduate students and researchers working in the disciplines of computer science and engineering, the proceedings also appeal to researchers in the field of electronics, as they cover hardware technologies and future communication technologies.

This volume is a selected collection of papers presented and discussed at the International Conference “Advanced Computing for Innovation (AComIn 2015)”. The Conference was held at 10th -11th of November, 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria and was aimed at providing a forum for international scientific exchange between Central/Eastern Europe and the rest of the world on several fundamental topics of computational intelligence. The papers report innovative approaches and solutions in hot topics of computational intelligence – advanced computing, language and semantic technologies, signal and image processing, as well as optimization and intelligent control.
The methods for human identity authentication based on biometrics - the physiological and behavioural characteristics of a person have been evolving continuously and seen significant improvement in performance and robustness over the last few years. However, most of the systems reported perform well in controlled operating scenarios, and their performance deteriorates significantly under real world operating conditions, and far from satisfactory in terms of robustness and accuracy, vulnerability to fraud and forgery, and use of acceptable and appropriate authentication protocols. To address some challenges, and the requirements of new and emerging applications, and for seamless diffusion of biometrics in society, there is a need for development of novel paradigms and protocols, and improved algorithms and authentication techniques. This book volume on "Advanced Biometric Technologies" is dedicated to the work being pursued by researchers around the world in this area, and includes some of the recent findings and their applications to address the challenges and emerging requirements for biometric based identity authentication systems. The book consists of 18 Chapters and is divided into four sections namely novel approaches, advanced algorithms, emerging applications and the multimodal fusion. The book was reviewed by editors Dr. Girija Chetty and Dr. Jucheng Yang We deeply appreciate the efforts of our guest editors: Dr. Norman Poh, Dr. Loris Nanni, Dr. Jianjiang Feng, Dr. Dongsun Park and Dr. Sook Yoon, as well as a number of anonymous reviewers.
