Offering the ability to process large or complex datasets, machine learning (ML) holds huge potential to reshape the whole status for solid ash management and recycling. Machine Learning for Solid Ash Management and Recycling is, as far as the author knows, the first published book about ML in solid ash management and recycling. This book highlights fundamental knowledge and recent advances in this topic, offering readers new insight into how these tools can be utilized to enhance their own work. The reference begins with fundamentals in solid ash, covering the status of solid ash generation and management. The book moves on to foundational knowledge on ML in solid ash management, which provides a brief introduction of ML for solid ash applications. The reference then goes on to discuss ML approaches currently used to address problems in solid ash management and recycling, including solid ash generation, clustering analysis, origin identification, reactivity prediction, leaching potential modelling and metal recovery evaluation, etc. Finally, potential future trends and challenges in the field are discussed. - Helps readers increase their existing knowledge on data mining and ML - Teaches how to apply ML techniques that work best in solid ash management and recycling through providing illustrative examples and complex practice solutions - Provides an accessible introduction to the current state and future possibilities for ML in solid ash management and recycling
The 2016 2nd International Conference on Energy Equipment Science and Engineering (ICEESE 2016) will be held on November 12-14, 2016 in Guangzhou, China. ICEESE 2016 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of energy equipment science and engineering to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in energy equipment science and engineering and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in energy equipment science and engineering and related areas.

Why is it important to have a revolutionary critical pedagogy? What are the new inter/disciplinary engagements possible within the university? What will it be like to live and learn in this university of the future? Drawing on these essential questions, this volume explores the political future(s) of the university. It does not take a simplistic recourse to the tenets of liberal democracy but seeks a more engaged positioning of the university space within everyday practices of the social. It cross-examines the history of this ‘ideal’ university’s relationship with the banal everyday, the ‘apolitical’ outside and what exceeds intellectual reason, to finally question if such historicizing of the university is necessary at all. Along with its companion The Idea of the University: Histories and Contexts, this brave new intervention makes a compelling foray into the political future(s) of the university. It will be of interest to academics, educators and students of the social sciences and humanities, especially education. It will also be of use to policy-makers and education analysts, and be central to the concerns of any citizen.
Managing Mining and Minerals Processing Wastes: Concepts, Design and Applications presents fundamental knowledge in waste management in mining and minerals processing and summarizes recent advances. The book offers readers insights into innovative ways to manage waste in the mining and minerals industry. Sections cover a brief introduction to this topic and an explanation of waste generation, and how to manage the six types of waste, including waste rock, mill tailings, coal refuse and coal fly ash, quarry waste, metallurgical slugs and washery rejects. The title then emphasizes the management of hazardous waste, the acid mine drainage and the lifecycle assessment of waste management. Finally, the book considers current and emerging challenges. This publication offers a comprehensive background to waste management in mining and minerals processing and a summary of recent advances and innovative strategies for managing each kind of waste. - Presents the background to waste management in minerals and mining, also summarizing recent advances - Provides an accessible introduction to the current state of, and future prospects for, waste management - Helps readers increase their usable knowledge on waste management in mining and minerals engineering - Offers new insights into how waste can be managed in innovative ways - Covers hazardous waste, acid mine drainage, lifecycle assessment and emerging issues
