Nathaniel Thayer (1640-1725) was the great great grandson of John TAYER who was born about 1500 (of) Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England. The Thayer family resided in Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England until 5 heads of families immigrated to America in the mid-1600's. It was not discovered until 2003 (after the publication of Vol. II) that Nathaniel Thayer's father, William also immigrated. It is believed they came to America in about 1645.

Walter Tisdale Thayer was born 28 December 1876 in Norton, Massachusetts. His parents were Henry Tisdale Thayer (1839-1909) and Margaret Ellen Smith (1852-1903). He married married Ann Elizabeth Levere (1880-1965), daughter of John Leviere and Elizabeth Breen, 20 September 1900 in Bristol, Rhode Island. They had ten children. He died in 1961 in Providence Rhode Island. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
