The sale of the main line has been referred to the people of the Commonwealth, to be determined by their votes at the ensuing election. To act wisely and well upon that momentous issue, it is necessary that they should be informed of all the facts that bear upon it. Should they decide in favour of a sale, it is equally necessary that the holders of stock should be enabled, from unquestionable data, to ascertain the value of the property proposed to be purchased.
