Gender inequality in Palestine has contributed to the marginalization of women from access and control over available resources including water. This inequality has been entrenched through legal, political and social systems. Palestine’s Gender-Responsive Water Assessment was carried out in the West Bank in 2021 by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with the Palestinian Authority (PA)- Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) as part of the “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Water Efficiency, Productivity and Water Sustainability in NENA [North East and North Africa] Countries (GCP/RNE/009/SWE)” project. The project had recommended gender-responsive water assessments to evaluate the relative situation of women and men in different communities regarding water access, governance and use in the countries targeted by the interventions. The aim of the assessment was to outline areas where future investments and programme interventions in water and agriculture would be needed to support progress towards gender equality and sustainable water resource management in a synergistic way. In addition to a review of the existing literature, the study gathered information at the field level, assessing five local communities in the northern West Bank.

Modern business relies heavily on information technology. This book presents a new “always-on” business model for the digital age, one based on three interrelated components: a business model, an IT capability model, and an always-on information system model. In addition, it develops an implementation framework for the new model by identifying business-critical continuous computing information technologies as implementation drivers. As part of the efforts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to support and strengthen NARS’ research impacts and their links to extension service systems, the present assessment was conducted in Liberia to establish deeper insight into these challenges and opportunities. The results presented in this comprehensive report can be used to support the development and adoption of guidelines for use by the NARS. The present study was undertaken to assess the implementation of AR4D in Liberia and the key actors involved to better understand the performance and the intuitional linkages amongst them and other relevant institutions to help identify potentials for fulfilling the agricultural research for development needs of the country with the over-arching goal of supporting small-scale farmers.

The National Gender Profile of Agriculture and Rural Livelihoods Cambodia provides findings of an assessment of men’s and women’s roles, gender division of labour and gender gaps, including women’s needs and constraints in the agriculture and rural development sectors in Cambodia. It also presents findings from the assessment of policies and frameworks pertaining to gender equality in agricultural and rural development. The assessment reveals that girls and women farmers have been more recognized and given opportunities in Cambodian political and economic activities compared to the past two decades. However, it also unveils the fact that gender inequalities still remain. These include the persisting gender and social norms that place men and boys as superior to women and girls, limited representation and opportunities in leadership tasks and roles and limited educational access to agricultural skills and related technologies. Rural women in particular face limited access to and control over productive and natural resources, services, and to markets and other opportunities to scale up their businesses. It also uncovers that there are still few women holding high-ranking positions at government level, with lower representation in decision-making positions as compared to men.Through a detailed analysis of the various sub-sectors, the policy framework and the main national stakeholders, concrete recommendations are provided for Government, FAO and other relevant partners for strengthening the integration of gender equality dimensions in agricultural and rural development policies and programmes.
