The report provides a number of preliminary estimates of traffic fatalities and fatal accidents for 1987. Trend data are presented for both the long and short term. Some summary statistics are provided at the State and Regional level. The national estimates for 1987 are quite extensive and cover the entire range of frequently used accident classifications. All estimates are compared to the corresponding values in 1986, 1983, and 1980. The results are presented in both tabular and graphic form.
