DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe Jesus Prayer is a form of prayer that for centuries has been preserved and practiced by the Hesychasm, the eremitic tradition that is the direct inheritor of the Desert Fathers of early Christianity. Such prayer is deeply similar to the Integral Yoga spiritual practice or sadhana. Both traditions have a comparable understanding of the human being and both bestow a special role to the heart as the place for integration and purification of the psyche as well as of gnosis and union with the Divine. This dissertation proposes the term heart-soul axis to study the structural, functional, and phenomenological aspects of the heart. The main methodological tools are hermeneutics and the geometrical model or topological invariant of Panikkar to stablish homeomorphic equivalences enabling a valid integration of both traditions. In addition, the dissertation offers an autoethnographical narrative in which the heuristic process leading to a creative visual synthesis is disclosed.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKDrawing on a deep knowledge of Christian scripture as well as Hindu philosophy, musician and teacher Russill Paul reveals that the mystical core of religion offers us much more than the simple solace of unthinking dogma. By demonstrating that these two seemingly separate and irreconcilable religions can actually unite in one person’s spiritual practice at the center of his life — as they did in his — he offers an alternative to religious intolerance and strife, as well as hope for personal liberation.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe Jesus Prayer has been part of the expression of faith since the earliest years of Christianity. With its many variations, from "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner", to only one word, "Jesus", it has been a font of prayer for the monks, nuns, and lay people of the Eastern Church for centuries. Today, the Jesus Prayer is practiced by men and women, lay and religious, all over the world, from every Christian tradition. Simple in form, but powerful in its potential to develop and transform the heart, it becomes a way of life for those who practice it. It is the perfect prayer for the modern pilgrim.
