Excerpt from Water Powers of the Cascade Range: Part 1. Southern Washington All distances were determined by stadia and all elevations by vertical angles. Initial elevations were taken from railroad bench marks and reduced to United States Geological Survey datum by known equations. The upper portion of Klickitat River is included in the Mount Adams quadrangle, and elevations were adjusted to agree with a line of United States Geological Survey bench marks following the upper course of the stream'. The datum of the survey was taken from the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway crossing of Klickitat River near Lyle.
