Four strangers are stuck in a hotel in Mumbai. Sitam, a Nepali speaking man from Sikkim, works in the dusty offices of Indian bureaucracy. He has seen racism at its worst during his University days. He is a frustrated Indian bureaucrat. Kulawant Kaur from Amritsar is on her first solo trip at the age of 62, under the pretence of a pilgrimage. This trip is her revolt against the inescapable North-Indian patriarchy. Razia is a Malayali Muslim married to a Hindu. The only identity that matters to her is that of a woman. She hates it when others want her to be a Muslim or a Malayali. Manoj is a typical Engineer-MBA, highly driven, ambitious and suave. His superiority complex is nauseating. Sunil Paswan, a Dalit from Bihar is the hotel manager. He survived caste riots in his native village 30 years ago, after which he moved to Mumbai and has never gone back home. They hate each other, hate being forced to live together and hate that the torment will last almost a month. How do things play out and what happens at the end? The story changes when hearts and minds slowly begin to open up…

Adversity. A fancy word for "tough times." While it's true that we all face challenges and hardships during our lives, it seems that more and more of us are faced with them right now. And, we all know that we're most likely to feel what others around us are feeling. If those around us are feeling lost, hopeless, and pessimistic about the future, then guess what? We're going to feel that way too. It's the "herd mentality" come to haunt us, again. We don't like to think of ourselves as members of a herd, but let's face it; our society can be seen as one. "Herd mentality," of course, describes how people are influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors, follow trends in action or thought. Currently the trend is toward 'negative thinking, ' which can be contrasted to the optimistic trend of the 1950 post-war era in America, where prosperity-for-all was thought to be both possible and probable. It was Friedrich Nietzsche, the German philosopher, who coined the phrase. These human herds could be divided into two groups. One group assumes a religious point-of -view, and their beliefs dictate their actions. The other group is influenced by the media and their actions are based upon what others perceive as 'right.' Today, 'right' thinking includes the opinions of media pundits, stock market analysts, and others who claim that the American Dream is dead, or at least terminally-ill. And where there's one negative thinker, there can be a dozen who are influenced by them. While Nietzsche saw these examples of group thinking to be reflections of weakness in the human social spirit, he did create the concept of the "Superman," that person who overcomes the values of the herd. That's what you're going to re-create yourself into; that Superman or Superwoman who rejects the common thinking of others in their reality. Only by discarding that negative thinking can you truly wake up to the opportunities around you and take advantage of them."

A Library Reads Pick! Most Anticipated by Goodreads, Cosmo, E! News, and more! Two best friends who haven’t spoken in ten years pretend to date after break-ups with their respective exes go viral, in this delightfully fun and deeply emotional novel from New York Times bestselling author Emma Lord. June and Levi were best friends as teenagers—until the day they weren’t. Now June is struggling to make rent on her beachside tea shop, Levi is living a New York cliché as a disillusioned hedge fund manager and failed novelist, and they've barely spoken in years. But after they both experience public, humiliating break-ups with their exes that spread like wildfire across TikTok rabbit holes and daytime talk shows alike, they accidentally make some juicy gossip of their own—a photo of them together has the internet convinced they're a couple. With so many people rooting for them, they decide to put aside their rocky past and make a pact to fuel the fire. Pretending to date will help June’s shop get back on its feet and make Levi’s ex realize that she made a mistake. All they have to do is convince the world they're in love, one swoon-worthy photo opp at a time. Two viral break-ups. One fake relationship. Five sparkling, heart-pounding dates. June and Levi can definitely pull this off without their hearts getting involved. Because everyone knows fake dating doesn’t come with real feelings. Right?
