1. PURPOSE. This Manual establishes policies and procedures for the training, qualification, and certification of Auxiliary members for patrol duty on Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel facilities. 2. ACTION. Area, district, and sector commanders, commanders of maintenance and logistics commands, commanding officers of integrated support commands, commanding officers of headquarters units, assistant commandants for directorates, Judge Advocate General and special staff elements at Headquarters shall ensure compliance with the provisions of this Notice. Internet release is authorized. 3. DIRECTIVES AFFECTED. a. Effective 01 January 2007, the Auxiliary Boat Crew Qualification Guide, Volume II: Coxswain, COMDTINST M16794.53 is cancelled. b. Where the provisions of this Manual differ from the Auxiliary Manual, COMDTINST M16790.1 (series), the provisions of this Manual shall apply. 4. DISCUSSION. This Manual is part of the complete revision of the Coast Guard's family of boat crew training and qualification publications. These publications are being revised to reflect the best and safest practices in the Coast Guard Auxiliary fleet. 5. RESPONSIBILITY. Commandant (CG-3PCX-2) is responsible for the content and upkeep of this Manual. Questions or concerns about the material contained in this Manual should be addressed to Commandant (CG-3PCX) at (202) 372-1271. 6. ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT AND IMPACT CONSIDERATIONS.
