The extraordinary story of the fastest car on earth by the man who drove it. Including unseen illustrations and untold series, this is the true inside story of the world-beating Thrust 2 project.
Originally published in 1966, this 50th Anniversary Reissue Edition of Maxwell W. Hunter II's seminal textbook on rocket science and propulsion systems for space travel is newly reprinted to inspire new generations of space enthusiasts. The original book is included in its entirety, with index and useful glossary, along with an updated biography, a list of Hunter's papers and publications that span the Cold War and Space Age to the era of Hubble, the Space Shuttle and SDI, and a foreword by Dr. J.D. Crouch, II. A textbook aimed at secondary-level and college students, THRUST INTO SPACE presents the science of rocket engineering in a technologically sound yet totally understandable style, and the ideas and arguments Hunter presents are as captivating and stimulating a half-century later as they were when the book first appeared.
This volume emphasizes the interaction of the Cordilleran thrust belt and Rocky Mountain foreland in studies of regional structural geology, geophysics, and sedimentology from west-central Montana to Arizona. The volume outlines how the nature of the Rocky mountain foreland and its deformation affect the geometry of the Cordilleran thrust belt. Many of the structural and geophysical studies reported in this volume also address the question of which structures - forland or thrust belt - developed first in a specific region and how early formed structures influenced later ones. Several chapters address the nature and style of foreland development.
Presents a simplified method of designing ducted fans for light aircraft propulsion. Includes a survey of ducted-fan-powered aircraft, ranging from amateur-built airplanes to military models and prototypes. Detailed discussion of engines and list of suitable powerplants drawn from automobiles, ATVs and personal watercraft. Extensive technical bibliography and list of sources.
K.R. McClay Department of Geology, Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, University of London, Egham, Surrey, England TW20 OEX. Since the first Thrust and Nappe Tectonics Conference in London in 1979 (McClay & Price 1981), and the Toulouse Meeting on Thrusting and Deformation in 1984 (Platt et al. 1986) there have been considerable advances in the study of thrust systems incorporating new field observations, conceptual models, mechanical models, analogue and numerical simulations, together with geophysical studies of thrust belts. Thrust Tectonics 1990 was an International Conference convened by the editor and held at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, University of London, Egham Surrey, from April 4th until April 7th 1990. There were one hundred and seventy participants from all continents except South America. The conference was generously sponsored by Brasoil U.K. Limited, BP Exploration, Chevron U.K. Limited, Clyde Petroleum, Enterprise Oil, Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited, and Shell U.K. Exploration and Production. One hundred and five contributions were presented at the meeting, - seventy six oral presentations (together with poster displays) and an additional twenty nine posters without oral presentation (McClay 1990, conference abstract volume).
Alex I know the game. I know the angle. I know how to make you beg. My hands on your body, my mouth hovering over yours—I’ll tell you everything you want to hear. Ten inches of real estate never felt so good. But don’t take my word for it. My client list is long and my motto is short—one single thrust and you’re mine. I’m not good at what I do, I’m fantastic. But satisfaction doesn’t come cheap. So open your wallet and prepare to forget your name. I’m about to ruin you for any other man. One single thrust and you’re mine. *THRUST is a standalone book in the Alpha Escort Series! Fold-and-thrust belts occur worldwide, have formed in all eras of geological time, and are widely recognized as the most common mode in which the crust accommodates shortening. Much current research on the structure of fold-and-thrust belts is focused on structural studies of regions or individual structures and on the geometry and evolution of these regions employing kinematic, mechanical and experimental modelling. In keeping with the main trends of current research, this title is devoted to the kinematic evolution and structural styles of a number of fold-and-thrust belts formed from palaeozoic to recent times. The papers included in this book cover a broad range of different topics, from modelling approaches to predict internal deformation of single structures, 3D reconstructions to decipher the structural evolution of groups of structures, palaeomagnetic studies of portions of fold-and-thrust belts, geometrical and kinematical aspects of Coulomb thrust wedges and structural analyses of fold-and-thrust belts to unravel their sequence of deformations--
