About the Contributor(s): G. Campbell Morgan (1863-1945) was a leading Bible expositor in England and the United States. Despite a lack of substantial formal training, Morgan was a prolific writer and teacher. Ordained into the Congregational ministry, he was the pastor of Westminster Chapel, London (1904-17 and 1933-45). Morgan also conducted two very successful teaching tours in the United States, including work with D.L. Moody's ministry.

Campbell Morgan must be regarded as a great person. His greatness is seen not only in the wide impact of his ministry on both sides of the Atlantic, but in the fact that his books are still read and studied sixty-five years after his death. The mystic Thomas á Kempis once wrote, "He to whom the eternal word speaks is delivered from many opinions." In one of his sermons, he referred to the words of Amos that there would be a famine for hearing the word of God (Amos 8:11). The timeless work of G. Campbell Morgan addresses that hun- ger, as his books enable his readers to get beyond opinions to the living Word. Near the end of his ministry, in a sermon entitled "But One Thing," Morgan commented on how Portugal changed the words of a coin after Christopher Columbus discovered America. No longer did the inscription say, Ne Plus Ultra (nothing more beyond) but Plus Ultra (more beyond). It is the hope of the G. Matthew Chapter Five begins the longest discourse of Christ recorded in Scripture. It is commonly called the Sermon on the Mount. The Beatitudes which preface that sermon challenge us with the highest ethical and spiritual standards possible. The whole chapter is convicting because it explodes human conceptions of righteousness while exposing the hypocrisy of self-righteousness. This book has been in the making for 50 years; ever since Thomas Moore found a germ within the tithing doctrine that departed from the Living God. Thomas set out in 1973 to expose where this germ corrupts the basic doctrines of the New Testament, but in so doing he found that he needed to acquire a full understanding of all the primary Christian doctrines. This required reading the entire Bible from cover to cover many times in different translations, as well as compiling an extensive theology library. Years were spent reading entire commentaries, word studies, and systematic theology by various scholars, along with sermons and lessons from the greatest preachers of all time. In 2015 the author finished following the tithing germ through every school of theology and discovered the specific truths of Scripture being violated. In 2015 he began writing the book to refute each false teaching that supports the false doctrine of tithing and expose all of its fallacies, heresies and blasphemies, which was published in November of 2019 as Living Waters from Difficult Passages. The book is very thorough. It not only exposes the heresies and blasphemies, but also contains the popular verses of Scripture that pastor’s abuse, in order to support the tithing practice. This made the book almost 500 pages long. Many people are not interested in a book that large, so the author developed this book as a companion book, which is a quick and easy read; just covering the basic blasphemies of the religious tithing teaching. The first four chapters of the Gospel of Matthew define the birth and early ministry of our Lord. The emphasis of these chapters is much more upon His position than upon the manifestation of His power. He is the King of Israel. Matthew writes to the Jews of his day from that perspective. Their rejection of Christ as the Messiah precluded the kingdom which He so freely offered for that generation.
