Excerpt from The Water Powers of WisconsinThe descriptions of stations give such general information about the locality and equipment as would enable the reader to find and use the station, and they also give, as far as posible, a complete history of all the changes that have occurred since the establishment of the station that would be factors in using the data collected. The discharge-measurement table gives the results of the discharge measurements made during the year, including the date, the name of the hydrographer, the width and area of cross section, the gage height, and the discharge in second-feet.The table of daily gage heights gives the daily fluctuations of the surface of the river as found from the mean of the gage heights taken each day. The gage height given in the table represents the elevation of the surface of the water above the zero of the gage. At most stations the gage is read in the morning and in the evening.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
