Excerpt from The Sunny Side of Christianity In the midst of all the Christian instruction that is being given and of all the efforts along kindred lines that are being put forth, we cannot keep too definitely shaped the object toward which wc arc laboring, and the particular result we are attempting to see realized. Now what is that result? We will suppose you to be connected with some church: What does that church stand for? What is the meaning of it? You are a Christian. If so you are trying to make your Christianity tell; tell in what way? Tell upon yourself in what way? Tell upon others in what way? What is Christianity for? Paul says that the Gospel is the power of God: power exercised for what purpose? About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Sunny Side of Christianity The front door. There would probably not a great deal come out of the rear door any way, and what did come it would be difficult to tag in a way to make it intelligible to the general market. Now the Church, a Church is, or is presumably, a kind of manufactory, that is, it exists for the purpose of yielding some form of product. And it is as evi dent as it needs to be that only a few people comparatively have any simple and distinct idea what that product is. That is shown in the fact that so many, whom we should not want to charge with not being Christian, do not care to asso ciate themselves with the Church. The meaning of Church is not so clearly felt by its members and therefore is not made so apparent by its members, as to lead outsiders to care to become identified with it or be made responsible for it. We do not need to have it pointed out to. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Have you ever been discouraged? Has life in general left you down in the dumps? My experiences as a teacher, principal, pastor, husband, father of five, grandfather of twelve and volunteer worker in several overseas countries have convinced me of the need for uplifting articles in our society. Over the last few years I have contributed a weekly column to the on-line newspaper Oliver Daily News in order to inject some of that into the community. I was urged to compile them into a book. This collection of short, hopefully inspirational articles from a Christian perspective is organized under eighteen themes. The goal is to validate faith in the principles taught in God's Word as the means for gaining a positive outlook on life. The aim is to make the columns just right for the time of year and effective in the way they are written. The intent is for them to be smart: Short, Meaningful. Appealing, Relevant and True. Many of them are based on personal experiences but some are gleaned from the sources indicated. This book is the result of collecting material for years and the hope is that it will encourage you in the Christian life, or cause you to reassess your perception of what the Christian life is about.

Scoring a home run, or a winning goal? It might be hard to believe, but a breakfast conversation could be the most consequential event in your life €“ if it is with Jesus. Looking at the breakfast conversation in John 21, we see how Peter’s life changed forever as he was challenged to step up and play his part in God’s big plan. And Jesus has an exciting challenge for all of us today. As Jesus captures our hearts with his love and forgiveness, we’ll be motivated to be part of something truly extraordinary. Perfect to read with men who you’d like to encourage to live all out for Christ or to give away at men's breakfasts.
