John S. Hickox (1820-1853) was a son of Seaman Hickox II and Hannah Yants or Youts (who lived in Trumbull and Lorin Counties in Ohio), and a grandson of Seaman Hickox I (b.1771/1775) who married Rafille Curtis in 1792. John S. was born in New York or Ohio, and married Mahala Jane Adams in 1838 in Edgar County, Illinois.
