Almost every day theres excitement going from one place to another. Theres been so many things happening here that I really dont know where to begin. If you look at the place as a jam packed full container of messed up people that cant get along with themselves, let alone anyone else, you would see very clearly that waiting for something to happen is a given at any time of the day. Its like watching one of those day time shows that can carry over a phone call from Monday to Friday and maybe they will think of something that will some how cause them to get tired of that crazy bitch that everyone across America knows is a lying, conniving, self centered trouble maker that will stop at nothing to disrupt everyones lives that she touches. Well we have them here too, but their twice as good at it than they are on TV. Im going back a few days to some real excitement. Some illegal Mexicans were staying here and one of them decided to try to rape a 16 year old girl in her own room. He was high on something and really did cause some problems. It was about 4 pm when he just walked in her room and pushed her down on her couch and told her in Spanish that he was going to rape her because she was a hoer and she deserved it. Shes just a young girl with a baby and shes not in any way a hoer. Then she started screaming and her mother just walked around the corner and into the room to see what was going on. The crazed man then went after her and knocked her down. Well, that was a major mistake on his part. She pushed the crazed man out the door and told him never to come back. He just came back in and attacked the mother again. Then some of her teenaged kids saw what was going on and decided to fight the man. Well, then the crazed man ran out the door and down the stairs to the parking lot and ran around the building by the laundry which was another mistake on his part. The mother of the girl hollered to them to catch that man as he ran by the door. Well there are some really crazy women down in the laundry room that would like nothing more that to tear into someone like this asshole. Now for his third mistake, he tried to run rite past these crazy laundry girls thinking that they were just watching and would do nothing to him. AAAA, wrong answer.. As he approached Rosy, he didnt expect her to kick him in his legs and knock him off his feet. He was so high on dope that he didnt even know he was on the ground but he was still running his feet as she tackled him. At that point, he got up and started running again. Now, along comes our littlest laundry lady that was raised with big brothers that used to beat her up until she got older. As the man got close to her, she did a fast knock down on him. He went down faster that a stake in front of a bull dog. When I first saw her, she was holding him down like a roped steer at a rodeo. When I asked her if she needed any help, she told me to just stand back so I dont get hurt so she could handle piece of shit until the cops got there. And I was just about to make my move too...

Winner of the 2021 National Jewish Book Award in Autobiography & Memoir! “A beautiful book… an instant classic of the genre.” —Dwight Garner, New York Times • A New York Times Critics’ Top Book of 2021 • A New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice • Named a Best Nonfiction Book of 2021 by Kirkus MIT psychologist and bestselling author of Reclaiming Conversation and Alone Together, Sherry Turkle's intimate memoir of love and work For decades, Sherry Turkle has shown how we remake ourselves in the mirror of our machines. Here, she illuminates our present search for authentic connection in a time of uncharted challenges. Turkle has spent a career composing an intimate ethnography of our digital world; now, marked by insight, humility, and compassion, we have her own. In this vivid and poignant narrative, Turkle ties together her coming-of-age and her pathbreaking research on technology, empathy, and ethics. Growing up in postwar Brooklyn,Turkle searched for clues to her identity in a house filled with mysteries. She mastered the codes that governed her mother's secretive life. She learned never to ask about her absent scientist father--and never to use his name, her name. Before empathy became a way to find connection, it was her strategy for survival. Turkle's intellect and curiosity brought her to worlds on the threshold of change. She learned friendship at a Harvard-Radcliffe on the cusp of coeducation during the antiwar movement, she mourned the loss of her mother in Paris as students returned from the 1968 barricades, and she followed her ambition while fighting for her place as a woman and a humanist at MIT. There, Turkle found turbulent love and chronicled the wonders of the new computer culture, even as she warned of its threat to our most essential human connections. The Empathy Diaries captures all this in rich detail--and offers a master class in finding meaning through a life's work.

"Here is the journal which ultimately proved the motive force for The Magnificent Obsession, the journal as it was set down by Doctor Hudson himself. One feels that he must have been a real person (or that at any rate, in his fictional being he represented the personification of someone’s experience and thought). Here we learn whence came the power—the inner strength through which he built spiritual, physical and worldly success. Here we trace the various experiments which proved his own theory. And here too we follow his opinion on a world facing much of what our world is facing today. This gives the book not only the customary hypodermic that Doctor Douglas so ably administers, but a timeliness that is not to be ignored. There is no one writing today who can put more punch into a sermon—without making one conscious it is a sermon." —Kirkus Review Lloyd C. Douglas was an American minister and author born in Indiana in 1877. He was married and had two children. He did not write his first novel until the age of 50 but was considered to be one of the most popular writers of his time. His works usually had a moral and religious tone. Two of his best known works were The Robe and The Big Fisherman, which were made into major motion pictures. The Robe, written in 1942, sold over two million copies in hardcover alone. It held the number one position on the New York Times Best Seller list for over a year and remained on the list for an additional two years. The film version of The Robe hit the screen in 1953 and starred Richard Burton.

From the creator of the popular website Ask a Manager and New York’s work-advice columnist comes a witty, practical guide to 200 difficult professional conversations—featuring all-new advice! There’s a reason Alison Green has been called “the Dear Abby of the work world.” Ten years as a workplace-advice columnist have taught her that people avoid awkward conversations in the office because they simply don’t know what to say. Thankfully, Green does—and in this incredibly helpful book, she tackles the tough discussions you may need to have during your career. You’ll learn what to say when • coworkers push their work on you—then take credit for it • you accidentally trash-talk someone in an email then hit “reply all” • you’re being micromanaged—or not being managed at all • you catch a colleague in a lie • your boss seems unhappy with your work • your cubemate’s loud speakerphone is making you homicidal • you got drunk at the holiday party Praise for Ask a Manager “A must-read for anyone who works . . . [Alison Green’s] advice boils down to the idea that you should be professional (even when others are not) and that communicating in a straightforward manner with candor and kindness will get you far, no matter where you work.”—Booklist (starred review) “The author’s friendly, warm, no-nonsense writing is a pleasure to read, and her advice can be widely applied to relationships in all areas of readers’ lives. Ideal for anyone new to the job market or new to management, or anyone hoping to improve their work experience.”—Library Journal (starred review) “I am a huge fan of Alison Green’s Ask a Manager column. This book is even better. It teaches us how to deal with many of the most vexing big and little problems in our workplaces—and to do so with grace, confidence, and a sense of humor.”—Robert Sutton, Stanford professor and author of The No Asshole Rule and The Asshole Survival Guide “Ask a Manager is the ultimate playbook for navigating the traditional workforce in a diplomatic but firm way.”—Erin Lowry, author of Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial Life Together
