Over the past few decades, mainline Protestant denominations in North America have been experiencing a significant decline in membership, active participation, and financial contributions. In the midst of this decline, these denominations have been caught up in a variety of controversial religious, ecclesiastical, and social issues—a shift from neo-orthodox to liberal theology, the advent of inclusive liturgical and biblical language, denominational support for often controversial social issues, and heated debates around human sexuality, particularly the place of homosexuals in the church. To address these issues and concerns, and to recapture the traditionalism many feel their churches have abandoned, the remnant faithful, those who choose to stay in their churches, have formed a number of reform and renewal movements. Cowan examines these emergent social movements, providing anecdotal and lively examples of their activities, their arguments, their identities, and their approaches to strengthening their churches. Rather than leave denominations which they regard as increasingly hostile to theological and ecclesiastical traditionalism, many mainline Protestants have chosen to stay and fight for their churches, forming reform and renewal movements intended to address hot-button issues in the way their churches function and practice. These conservative reform movements, however, are often vilified by their more liberal co-religionists, and not infrequently regarded as theologically immature, doctrinally stagnant, and ecclesiastically belligerent. The Remnant Spirit demonstrates that these are simplistic and reductivist analyses that only serve to avoid the very issues around which reform movements emerge and evolve. The author provides an in-depth examination of four major North American denominations, and the various conservative reform and renewal movements taking place in each, while acknowledging that every mainline Protestant Church in the U.S. and Canada is contending with similar issues and addressing them in similar fashions. Here, the voices of the remnant faithful, those that contribute to denominational discussions as they are experienced by ordinary church members and leaders alike, are presented and discussed in a thoughtful and lively manner.

Are you perplexed by the direction the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its members are taking on principles that the church has upheld for years? Jonathan Mukwiri feels that many members of the remnant church are shifting their position on various topics in these last days to closely mirror worldviews and philosophies. Awakening the Remnant is a call to Seventh-day Adventists to return to the truth in such areas as dress, worship, diet, and obedience to the law as clearly stated in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. As the remnant church, Seventh-day Adventists have the knowledge, but its members must hold true to the Word of God if they are to stand until Jesus' Second Coming. Are you ready for Christ's soon return? Be prepared by studying the Bible and the inspired writings of Ellen G. White. This book quotes extensively from both in an effort to steer members of the remnant church back on the straight and narrow way of truth.

"Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well the end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, and therefore to lay Christ in the bottom, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning." -Harvard University 1636 If you grew up in America within the last 70 years, you've been lied to about the reality of your existence. You've been lied to about the roots of your great nation. And you've been lied to about the purpose of your life. A thick fog of religion, the pride of life and censored "education" has clouded the minds of several generations. Since the beginning of human history, God has been preserving a remnant of his offspring that will worship him in spirit and in truth. The remnant's population has always varied in size, from many millions to as few as just eight. The remnant cannot be identified by any single denomination or church affiliation. They are scattered like salt throughout the entire world. One such remnant came to America 400 years ago. These forefathers sacrificed their lives to build a society structured on the word of God. Now, our nation's foundation is being removed brick by brick, and at this rate our country's collapse is inevitable. The only way to avoid this downfall is to return to the source of stability and truth we were built on. The fate of our nation rests in the hands of the remnant. It rests on a conditional promise of God, IF... "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 The end of the church age is upon us. The window is closing. God is giving the United States a celestial warning you need to see! The greatest harvest in American history is a close, tangible possibility! The harvest is plentiful, but the remnant is few! With all love, humility, and unity, join the harvest. Join The Remnant.

"The Lord has shown me that Satan was once an honored angel in heaven, next to Jesus Christ. His countenance was mild, expressive of happiness like the other angels. His forehead was high and broad, and showed great intelligence. His form was perfect. He had noble, majestic bearing. And I saw that when God said to his Son, Let us make man in our image, Satan was jealous of Jesus. He wished to be consulted concerning the formation of man. He was filled with envy, jealousy and hatred. He wished to be the highest in heaven, next to God, and receive the highest honors. Until this time all heaven was in order, harmony and perfect subjection to the government of God."-Ellen G White

What caused a former Dallas Seminary professor to believe that the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit are being given today? What convinced someone skeptical about miracles that God still speaks and heals? A dramatic change took place in Jack Deere’s life when he took a fresh look at the Scriptures. He discovered that his cherished arguments against miraculous gifts were based more on prejudice and a lack of personal experience than on the Bible. As soon as Deere became a seeker instead of a skeptic, the Holy Spirit revealed himself in new and surprising ways. In Surprised by the Power of the Spirit, Jack Deere provides a strong biblical defense for the Spirit’s speaking and healing ministries today. He also describes several reliable cases of people who were miraculously healed or who heard God speak in an unmistakable way. Finally, he gives sound advice for using spiritual gifts in the church. Written in popular style-with the care of a scholar but the passion of personal experience-this book is a vital resource for people on both sides of the debate about miraculous gifts.

What are spiritual gifts? Storms has spent several decades teaching on the topic of the spiritual gifts and equipping believers in the faithful practice of God's gifts. Yet there remains a great deal of confusion about the nature of the gifts and how they best function in the body of Christ. In this comprehensive guide to the spiritual gifts, Storms addresses the many bizarre and misleading interpretations while confronting the tendency to downplay the urgency of spiritual gifts for Christian living and ministry. He explains how spiritual gifts--both the more miraculous and the everyday--are given to build up the body of Christ. God has graciously provided these "manifestations of the Spirit" so that believers might encourage, edify, strengthen, instruct, and console one another, all with a view to an ever-increasing, incremental transformation into the image of Jesus Christ. Throughout this guide, Sam Storms unpacks the glorious truth that there is a supernatural and divine energy or power that fills and indwells the body and soul of every Christian believer. Understanding Spiritual Gifts is useful as a reference to address common questions about the gifts, but it also serves as a training manual for using and exercising the gifts in ministry. It is perfect for any individual or group who wants to grow in their understanding of spiritual gifts for today.

"CALLING FORTH THE REMNANT, By Way of the Cross, by Stella Paterson, is addressed to the Body of Christ; both those who attend church and those who do not. Much heartache and sadness have gone into relating the error which has robbed the Lords Bride of her beauty and purity. The "error" is rooted in the greatest deception of all time, and its disastrous influence has been embraced. Error has been allowed to run rampant and has resulted in widespread, unrecognized apostasy. Following many years of in-depth Bible study, the author presents monumental truths that fly in the face of many accepted teachings. It raises a multitude of questions then gives answers, including references for further research: "Why did Jesus REALLY have to die? What is the new birth, as examined through Scripture? Will we yield to Gods way or continue on our own way? What about topics like 'tithing', 'the Rapture', 'tribulation' and 'Antichrist'? Will we ultimately choose to go the way of the Cross and become a part of the Church triumphant? Are we truly born again or have we been deceived by an 'easy' gospel about an 'easy' Jesus who will take as His Bride those who are yet flesh?"
