This book is a series of sermons summarizing the books of prophecy in the Old Testament. I intend these sermons to be studied, preached, or used as Bible lessons or for simple reference. The books of prophecy express God's heart for His people, the Jews, and He chose them to be the primary vehicle of His message to mankind, as the initial means of fulfilling God's mission of redemption and His kingdom being established on earth. However, after repeated attempts to call His people back to that mission, God decided not to speak for four hundred years until John the Baptist showed up in Judea. The proclamation of the prophets is also a promise of victory for the people of God. The cry of God, in the words of Malachi, "Return to me and I will return to you," expresses God's commitment and unrelenting love for His people. This proclamation is not based on replacement theology, which assumes that the church has replaced the Jews. But instead on God's promise to restore His people. I hope you enjoy and are blessed with this work. Use it as a beginning point in your study and research. And in the end, may God be glorified and may you be enlightened.

Bernhard Anderson has written a commentary that gives new perspective and clarity to the prophetic tradition and demonstrates the timely nature of the prophets' messages for today. 'The Eighth Century Prophets' treats the four Old Testament figures as a 'prophetic quartet' that produced a powerful and startling consensus about Israel's relationship to God and the world. The core of the prophetic message is shown to be both religious and political as Anderson describes and explains the great themes of Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, and Micah: divine judgment, the present and the future, justice and mercy, the covenant, walking humbly with God, and waiting for God. Included is a bibliography and time chart of Eighth Century Israel.

Where have all the prophets gone? And why do preachers seem to shy away from prophetic witness? Astute preacher Leonora Tisdale considers these vexing questions while providing guidance and encouragement to pastors who want to recommit themselves to the task of prophetic witness. With a keen sensitivity to pastoral contexts, Tisdale's work is full of helpful suggestions and examples to help pastors structure and preach prophetic sermons, considered by many to be one of the most difficult tasks pastors are called to undertake.

This book discusses three big issues that concern every Christian; Evangelism, the Real Content of the Gospel, and the Prophetic ministry today. These topics are discussed with Bible chapters to help the reader understand the book's content. I have always believed that the Word of God is like medicine, and must be taken in dosages all through our life that is why the topics come in brief forms to help you grasp it well. However, no topic here is exhaustive, I believe it will draw the readers attention to what the Holy Spirit has been saying to us all this while. We do not hear him because the noise from the other side is distracting our attention. Some topics discussed are: -The Parables of a Far Country.-The Parable of the Wickedness of deception.-The Proclamation of the Gospel.-The Superlatives of the Gospel.-The Prophetic in Today's Church.-Gifts of Prophecy.-Who is a Prophet?-Gifts of a Prophet & many more.Seriously, millions are entering eternity every second without having close contact with the gospel. I know many believers are concerned about sharing the gospel; their only problem is how to share and what to say. Many travel thousands of miles just to meet one soul. How can we be excused if the souls travel to us? Some portions of this book can be a starter.I had a friend whom I always visited when I visited Kumasi, he always shared with me all the trending stories. Time went by and characteristically as was our custom, we had a beautiful time laughing together during one of my visits. He was never short of stories. Whilst everything apparently looked normal during our visits and conversations, there was a battle raging in my heart any time I visited. There probably was also a battle raging in his heart too. I could not tell about his but mine was simply heavy, a heavy burden to share with my friend the good news of Christ my Savior. Disobediently, I always numbed the urge to witness about Christ but rather assured myself that I will do it another time. After a couple of months, I visited my sister and as usual and had an opportunity to taste a homemade meal. Seeing the food alone was a festival. Just before I could start my meal my sister whispered to me solemnly" I don't want to forget this. Your friend died." Shame, guilt, condemnation all poured over me. "God please forgive me. I wish someone shared with him what I had failed to share" I prayed. He even shared with me the Kumasi version of the Prodigal son. Yet, I failed to share with him the Biblical version of the parable of the Prodigal son. We are born to embark on a journey from an earthly father to a heavenly oneThis is one of the many reasons I share these parables with you. May the Holy Spirit throw more light. Please grab your copy and don't forget to tell a friend.William Okyere
