Religious indifference is sadly too general in our day, and it is the source of much scepticism and ungodliness. The lack of interest in ecclesiastical questions is indicative of national unhealthiness. The loosely-attached members of the various Churches are generally unversed in the history, doctrines, and polity of their respective Denominations. This touches a serious weakness in Nonconformity. Romanists and Anglicans give much attention to the instruction of their young people in the principles and dogmas of their Churches; hence the tenacity with which the members of these Churches hold to their ingrained beliefs. Nonconformists are not so systematically trained in the distinctive tenets of their theology and government, and consequently are more easily detached from the Church of their fathers.
