DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from The Supplemental Tune Book to the Church Sunday School Hymn Book This Tune Book has been published to supply a want created by the new Edition of the "Church Sunday School Hymn Book," published at Advent last. Into that Edition have been introduced several popular children's hymns, for which tunes are not to be found in the ordinary Tune Books. For all such, tunes will be found in the present work. The great majority of these are new, and have been specially written for the Committee of the Church of England Sunday School Institute, but it has been considered necessary to insert three or four well-known old tunes, because, though continually sung in Sunday Schools, they are not now to be found in well-known Tune Books; that is, either in Hymns Ancient and Modern, Church Hymns (S.P.C.K.), or the Hymnal Companion (Bickersteth). To these Tune Books this little work should be considered as supplementary. An Appendix has been carefully compiled, in which a tune from these works, from "Sacred Songs and Solos," or from this new Tune Book, is recommended for every hymn in the Institutes Hymn Book. DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from The Supplemental Tune Book to the Church Sunday School Hymn Book Two or three new tunes of ordinary metres have been introduced which were not really needed, because it was thought they were of sufficient value to justify their insertion, the copyright having been kindly offered to the Institute.
