DOWNLOAD EBOOKHPIP H.Z. Plummer's Shrinedom, written over 80 years ago, inspired me to write, edit and compile this work. Like Plummer, I too echo the need for "a comprehensive and informative work under a single cover." Publications such as: Shrinedom, the Imperial Lessons and Companion and other works serve to provide an increased understanding of the fraternity. To further add to the previous bodies of knowledge, an explanation, not THE explanation, of several aspects of the order is offered. That being the case, this book can serve to: introduce important aspects of Shrinedom to newly created Nobles, re-familiarize and provide unique points of view to more senior Nobles and augment Oasis, Desert and Imperial Leadership Training. The uses of this book is purely up to the imagination of the owner. The Jewel is simply a consolidation of nine lectures regarding the Mystic Shrine. Given the various discussions that I've had with Nobles across the domain, a common talking point is that they want a book to assist them in gaining a greater appreciation for the order. With that said, the purpose of The Jewel: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Mystic Shrine, is to have that "conversation with the Nobility," and share perspective in hopes to further increase their understanding of this ancient and honorable institution. Further, the intent of this book is to "keep the conversation going," by agreeing, disagreeing, or building on the information contained in this book. Lastly, The Jewel is a supplement for current Mystic Shrine Instructional Manuals. This body of work provides points of view, most of which, not captured in the instructional manuals mentioned above.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKMany who read the title of this book assume (unless they have particular knowledge of the Shriners organization and know better) that the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine are a group of Arabic noblemen who came to the North American continent to set up a mystic shrine. Nope. This book, published in 1903, is a fascinating recorded history of the organization of the Shriners (at least up until that point), established in 1870. The middle-eastern theme was adopted for its allure of mystery and exoticism, and apparently it worked to draw members (350,000 from 196 temples around the world at this point), and the Shriners' legacy of service and camaraderie lives on. It's an excellent glimpse into the organization written by Shriners, for Shriners.
