Many people label their internal thoughts as the chattering monkey. They seem confused contradictory and can be overwhelming and all this often at the time when we need to perform at our best. Consider your thought streams, your Monkey, it's likely you see them as tradition describes them at best useless and at worse a negative drain on your performance and your life. The possibility we bring for your consideration is that this is all caused by a poor set up and you can reengineer the relationship between you and your Monkey. This book shows you how with a little effort and you will find your Monkey can help you BE HAVE or DO whatever it is you really want. Conclusions There are many ways to calm your Monkey down and reduce the distraction of their thought flows. However most of theses methods do not offer permanent fixes. It’s like a sailor bailing out her leaky boat, without taking the time out to fix the leak, she is destined to bail for ever. There is a way to work with your Monkey so that the thoughts they create give you good ideas, hunches and reminders of undone tasks that come at opportune times where you can act on them. There is a way to work with your Money that allows them to be a real helper. Without a partnership, it’s likely you and your Monkey are trying to do different things. This means you are Misaligned and your resources are split. It’s like a tug of war team that doesn’t work together and your ability to achieve all that you could is forever sabotaged. Do nothing different and this state of affairs will continue and in our view you will miss a golden opportunity you can test one way or another in only 12 weeks. Getting you and your Monkey focussed and agreed on the same path to success provides an opportunity for improving your concentration, power, confidence, and productivity that you can only dream of if the both of you are currently misaligned. Right now, you may feel that the relationship is so good but you can change this and change it in a short space of time. To get an objective view of the current state of your relationship with your Monkey we will provide you with links to our free Misaligned Monkey Relationship Survey. The survey gives you a numerical score reflecting your current relationship with your Monkey. The book also gives you access to other recorded material that will help you transform your inner world. Based on our work with thousands of delegates who needed or had to change these ideas work. One reader told us "I had no idea you could do this or work in this way."

For over 25 years working with Sales Academy Ltd to develop individuals and teams in corporate environments, it became clear that performance was not related to anything externally obvious. We found marked differences in performance and happiness levels were determined solely by each individual’s inner programming. The way each individual 'went about' things was the key regardless of their external circumstances. This inner programming exists in all of us and we believe it's there to help us. Effective inner programming enables us to make sense of the world we find ourselves in and move on to make good choices that take us where we want to go. These programmed approaches or choices were initially about helping us to survive physically - something most of us now find relatively easy. Our challenges and our survival in this modern world require different responses and once we start to consider how we do what we do we can find much of it is based on old outdated models and methods. We outgrow some of the rules and constraints in our naturally acquired inner programming. Our ability to understand and tune this model, to choose more appropriate empowering responses determines our ability to succeed. This book lets you consider some of your current 'programming' that may have previously been hidden. Some people we met were unaware that: They had inner programming. Their inner programming worked subconsciously. It affected their analysis of what was happening. It affected their choices of what to do next. They could change their programming if they wanted to. Years of experience and observation enabled us to find a pragmatic way of looking at the mass of complicated and often competing ideas about what our programming might look like and more importantly how to tune it for best results. Our conclusion is that your programming is like a model of how you believe the world works. It can effectively be seen as a series of beliefs that sit on different continuums. Your model combines where you sit on each continuum of beliefs, what we call your belief points, to create an operating system. Most of us are largely unaware of the contents of the system which we use unconsciously to create the life we have. We believe that the nature of your model is the most significant factor in determining how successful you are or can be. This means that if you currently want or are interested in what change may give you, the fastest way to investigate your options is to evaluate the position of your belief points on each continuum. Typical belief continuums that made a difference in the performance of our delegates included: Abundance - do you believe the world is abundant and anything you want is available? Possibility - do you believe what you want is possible for you? Choice - do you believe a choice is always possible? Guidance - do you believe you are guided? Responsibility - do you believe you are responsible? Purpose - do you believe it's helpful to know what you are doing with your life? Time - do you believe that all your seconds are yours to use as you see fit? The degree to which you agree from Yes - 100% to No - 0% defines your belief point on each continuum. Most of us think we are somewhere in the middle. However, many of our delegates found a discrepancy between what they thought their belief points were and how they actually operated in real life. This understanding was enough to allow them to make better choices and move on far faster than we or they, would have previously thought possible. Understanding what you must believe to think or act like that is a useful pursuit. It can dramatically free you, almost miraculously, to make different choices, do new things, and achieve new successes. Tiny changes in these belief points can create massive differences in results. During our training programmes, we developed a series of stories that enabled our delegates to identify hidden belief points in a gentle and effective way. Many of these stories appear here. As you read on, take the time to notice your reactions to the underlying ideas they represent. Each chapter starts with an indication of one end of the belief continuum that the chapter dwells on. Your reactions to the story will give you clues as to where your belief points currently sit and an option to experiment with shifting your belief points to see what happens or consider change if it suits you to do so. Once you understand this idea, you can examine your current model objectively and shift your belief point to create faster, more effective, and sustainable change so you can pursue the life you really want. Or you could just enjoy the story!

Face perception is a highly evolved visual skills in humans. This complex ability develops across the life-span, steeply rising in infancy, refining across childhood and adolescence, reaching highest levels in adulthood and declining in old age. As such, the development of face perception comprises multiple skills, including sensory (e.g., mechanisms of holistic, configural and featural perception), cognitive (e.g., memory, processing speed, attentional control), and also emotional and social (e.g., reading and interpreting facial expression) domains. Whereas our understanding of specific functional domains involved in face perception is growing, there is further pressing demand for a multidisciplinary approach toward a more integrated view, describing how face perception ability relates to and develops with other domains of sensory and cognitive functioning. In this research topic we bring together a collection of papers that provide a shot of the current state of the art of theorizing and investigating face perception from the perspective of multiple ability domains. We would like to thank all authors for their valuable contributions that advanced our understanding of face and emotion perception across development.

Building on the successful formula of the first edition, Martin Tovée offers a concise but detailed account of how the visual system is organised and functions to produce visual perception. He takes his readers from first principles; the structure and function of the eye and what happens when light enters, to how we see and process images, recognise patterns and faces, and through to the most recent discoveries in molecular genetics and brain imaging, and how they have uncovered a host of new advances in our understanding of how visual information is processed within the brain. Incorporating new material throughout, including almost 50 new images, every chapter has been updated to include the latest research, and culminates in helpful key points, which summarise the lessons learnt. This book is an invaluable course text for students within the fields of psychology, neuroscience, biology and physiology.
