In the words of Elie Wiesel: "The man who left his mark on so many survivors of so many massacres in Central and Eastern Europe, the leader who not only made survival imperative but possible, the Master who gave to despairing communities, managed-we shall never know how-to disappear without leaving the professional seekers even a fragment of valid autobiographical material. Obsessed by eternity, he neglected history and let himself be carried by legend." Wiesel is talking about the Baal Shem Tov, The Master of the Good Name. Readers acquainted with Jewish history will have an idea who the Baal Shem Tov was. But the width of the spectrum of such ideas can be immeasurably wide. Equally wide is the range of emotions these ideas arouse. Readers unacquainted with such a history may be able to read this book more easily as a novel, which it is. What surrounds the stage of our action is, of course, the great world of history and a time of disruptions and new thinking. Of great consequence is the transmission from China of the musical theory of equal temperament which forms the basis of almost all musical composition from the mid-18th century to the music saturated present. This musical theory was received and then published in France by Mersenne in 1636; in 1722 it was being championed by Bach in his instructions to young musicians collected under the title, The Well Tempered Clavier. That year the Baal Shem Tov was probably earning his living digging clay and accompanying his labors with Carpathian shepherd's tunes. The story is told through the eyes of an invented student of his who becomes a physician in Prague.

Frankie L. Jackson, in his many years of service in the kingdom of God, has devoted his life in search of the true message of the Gospel. A message overshadowed by religion and, to some extent, misunderstood by both Christians and non-Christians. In this book, What Is Your Name? Pastor Jackson brings to light the theme and focus of Christs message and why He came to die for the world. He strongly believes that the impact of the Gospel is closely related to our presentation of the message Christ preached. You will be encouraged to reexamine your life as you take a closer look at where you fit in the plan of God. Who am I to God? and how does He see me? These questions can easily be answered once youve discovered your heavenly name. This book will provide you with these answers and some thought-provoking concepts about names and heavens name for you, such as, -Why Names Are Important to God -Gods Purpose for Names -What Is Your Heavenly Name -Satan: The Enemy of Your Name -Living Up to Your Name Discovering your heavenly name can add meaning to your life and give you value beyond your earthly name. God wanted to give you more than dominion; He wanted you to have His image and likeness and a heavenly name.

The author, Dale Manternach, is a second generation farmer/rancher; born, raised and educated in Scobey, Montana. During his one year at the University of Minnesota at age seventeen, his talent for writing composition was discovered and encouraged. He married a classmate from across the Canadian border, Lois Anderson. They parented four sons and two daughters. His marriage ended on August 6, 1995 when Lois went home to meet her Maker, her beloved Master. In 1999 he retired, met and married Alice Hedin and moved to Sioux Falls, SD to become a member of Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church. Most of these devotions were created from is seventy three years of eastern Montana life experiences, coupled with spiritual truths, principles, promises and testimonies of faith-builders he enjoyed in overcoming many of life's trials as a man of agriculture, a parent, and friend to many, and a devout, truly born-again man of God, hungry for God's Word. He is looking forward to a blessed eternity in Heaven with Jesus. I want to acknowledge and thank some key people who made his book possible: Pastor Mark Chase and his wife Mary for introducing me to Xulon Press Publishers. Friend Stan Pickard for helping get started. Typists and editors: Daughter Ingrid Lardson, Grand-daughter Nichole Larson, friend Heather Ellyson, friends Bill and Shirley Scott for various chores along the way, and my faithful mate Alice for some good ideas and daily encouragement, and showing special interest all the way. Finalist for the 2016 National Translation Award given by the American Literary Translators' Association The life, birth, and early years of 'the Fariyaq'—the alter ego of the Arab intellectual Ahmad Faris al-Shidyaq Leg over Leg recounts the life, from birth to middle age, of ‘the Fariyaq,’ alter ego of Ahmad Faris al-Shidyaq, a pivotal figure in the intellectual and literary history of the modern Arab world. The always edifying and often hilarious adventures of the Fariyaq, as he moves from his native Lebanon to Egypt, Malta, Tunis, England and France, provide the author with grist for wide-ranging discussions of the intellectual and social issues of his time, including the ignorance and corruption of the Lebanese religious and secular establishments, freedom of conscience, women’s rights, sexual relationships between men and women, the manners and customs of Europeans and Middle Easterners, and the differences between contemporary European and Arabic literatures. Al-Shidyaq also celebrates the genius and beauty of the classical Arabic language. Akin to Sterne and Rabelais in his satirical outlook and technical inventiveness, al-Shidyaq produced in Leg Over Leg a work that is unique and unclassifiable. It was initially widely condemned for its attacks on authority, its religious skepticism, and its “obscenity,” and later editions were often abridged. This is the first English translation of the work and reproduces the original Arabic text, published under the author’s supervision in 1855.
