Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: February 15, 1912 It is not my purpose to discuss the probability or correctness of the above account, further than to say that the boy had fulfilled the requirements of God, inasmuch as he had asked in faith, nothing wavering; consequently it may reasonably be assumed that he was heard by the Father. By accepting this vision as a reality one is forced to conclude that the religious institutions of that day (1820) were but inefficient fragments of the true and perfect church of our Savior; that the church founded through the instrumentality of Joseph Smith contains the true plan of salvation, and consequently is responsible for, the dissemination of the gospel to all the world. It will be profitable now to examine some evidence, scriptural and historical, relating to the question of a universal apostasy. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: July 11, 1912 The second principle of the gospel of Christ, as taught by the Latter-day Saints, is repentance. True repentance is a godly sor row for sin, For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of, but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (ii. Cor. 7 Sincere repentance will cause a man to forsake his sins and turn away from his evil ways. Surely this principle can not be called a non-christian doctrine when it was taught by J ohn the Baptist (matt. 3: 1, by the Savior (mark 15; Luke 13: by Peter (acts 2: 38; 3: by Paul (acts and in fact by all the apostles (mark 6: 7. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: August 15, 1912 While Potter was here his whole desire seemed to be to get money without working for it. We came from Birmingham, England, and knew Potter there, and also in Dudley, where he came from. While he was here he went to the 'stockade' and he blamed the Church authorities for conditions there. He left here in July, 1911, and before he left he said he intended to go back to England and run down the Church authorities and blame them for the 'stock ade.' I told him I was not looking for bad things but the good, but that made no impression on him. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: July 18, 1912 The kingdom of God and His righteousness was the sole thought of the noble men and women who laid the foundation of this great commonwealth. Of them they spoke and sang by day, of them they dreamed by night. Hear the words of their faithful leader as soon as his feet had touched the soil, Here we shall build a city, and there shall stand the temple of our God. We point with pride to the fulfillment of that prophecy. It is evidence to us, if not to the unthinking world, that the leader of the pioneers was inspired by the Spirit of the living God. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: March 7, 1912 N ow, I will be talking if I do not quit pretty soon. But I rejoice that I have this privilege, for the sake of my brother Budger - to mention his name here, for he and I have been almost like twin brothers. We have been devoted and true to each other, as all our council are. And I regret that he could not be here. I received a very splendid letter within the week from Brother Clawson, two pages of closely-written matter. I presume that his heart will be like mine would be in regard to the loss of my mother and my father, if I could not have been with them, to acknowledge the hand of the Lord, for she has lived out her days, and has not died until her time came. It came, and she was fully ripe for this change, and there was not any death in it. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: December 5, 1912 I wish to call the attention of the despisers of new revelation to the words of Christ, spoken to His disciples on one occasion when treating on the subject of prayer. They are as follows: And I say unto you, Ask, and it Shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: November 28, 1912 Upon it let the clouds distil virtue and richness and let the fields smile with plenty. Let the flocks and herds greatly multiply upon the mountains and hills. Let thy great kindness conquer and sub due the unbelief of Thy people, incline them to gather in upon this land according to Thy word. Let the large Ships of nations bring them from the distant isles, etc. Oh, the meaning of that prayer and the humility of the Divinely called man who uttered it! That prayer is recorded in heaven, as well as upon earth, as shown by its fulfillment before the eyes of all nations. That prayer answers every question that can arise concerning the gathering of Judah in this day. It stands as another witness to all the world of the truth of the restored gos pel of Jesus Christ and the Divine commission that rests upon the leaders of God's Church, to which the world in derision gives the name of Mormonism. Despite present unpopularity and persecution, the world will some day come to realize that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been God's instrument for the fulfillment of His purposes in these latter days.
